Usernames for administrator attention

This page is intended for reports of usernames that are blatant and serious violations of the username policy requiring an immediate block. Reports will be assessed in accordance with the username policy, the UAA instructions, and the following bullet points. Please ensure you are familiar with the assessment criteria before making a report.

1. Except in the instance of an egregious name violation, please do not report accounts with no edits or those who have not edited in the preceding 2 weeks.
2. Real names are permitted, except when the editor implies they are someone other than themselves, such as impersonating a notable living person.
3. Promotional names require evidence to be blocked. Do not report a username merely because it "appears" promotional.
4. For libellous usernames or usernames that contain another editor's nonpublic personal information, please contact an oversighter and do not report it here.
5. Discuss less-serious violations with the user on their talk page so that they can rename or abandon their account in good faith. Templates such as {{Uw-username}} or {{Uw-coi-username}} may be used. If, after discussion with a user, the problem still seems unresolved, a username request for comment may be in order.
6. Do not leave a username warning on a user's talk page and also immediately report them here. Do one or the other, and not both simultaneously.
7. Patrollers are asked to remove reports that have been declined, are bot-reported false positives or are otherwise non-blatant or stale reports.

Not a blatant violation of the username policy. Consider filing a report at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Not enough connection between name and edits for block on username grounds. But definintely editing to promote. Daniel Case (talk) 21:36, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

• Comment. This is frankly stupid. There's nothing confusing about this username and I can't fathom how this would be cause problems for anyone, even new users. When an editor signs their name, it is clear that it is a user name: it's not like he's going to be inserting his username in the middle of articles. I don't think the name violates any policy and I would personally refuse to change it if it were me. • Comment: Agree with the reporter that this has the potential to be confusing for readers, and even if not intentional, is misleading. Perhaps the preceding writer is so well familiar with the appearance of user notations, signatures and maintenance tags on Wikipedia to always be able to tell what is what at a glance, but most users are not and take what they see at face value. This username appears to any casual observer be something other than a username. Support the report and thank the subject user for their (albeit wistful) willingness to remedy. Comment: I would also be willing to change my signature to something that would not resemble the recognizable template of the same name. The concern of the reporter seems to be that my signature would confuse editors rather than the actual name itself. [citation needed] 22:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
