Kristen McMenamy (born December 13, 1966) is an American model. She is known for her unconventional, androgynous appearance.
Career
Born in Easton, Pennsylvania, McMenamy's modeling career mainly spanned the years 1985 to 1998, when she worked for many of the world's top designers and international fashion houses (such as Chanel, Valentino and Versace). She has also worked with many of the top fashion photographers, including Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, Juergen Teller, and Karl Lagerfeld. A few months into her career, she was in the 1986 Book, A Day in the Life of America, being photographed by Sante D'Orazio.[1] In 1994, she also modeled in a famous Gianni Versace advertising campaign featuring Nadja Auermann and Elton John, photographed by Richard Avedon.[2]
She had modeled for the fall/winter 2010-2011 Viktor & Rolf runway show. She was a "Matryoshka doll", where the designers put several layers of clothing on her similar to how the dolls have several layers.
Personal life
In 1997, McMenamy, then five months pregnant, married the British photographer Miles Aldridge, a brother of the fashion model Saffron Aldridge. Model Naomi Campbell served as her bridesmaid and Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld gave her away.[3] Their first child was born four months later. They had a second child together. Kristen also has a daughter, Lily (born 1994) from a prior relationship with Hubert Boukobsa. Miles also had a child from a previous relationship.
After 16 years of marriage, McMenamy filed for divorce in April 2013.
