I noticed that you have re-sized the images on the Flux Balance Analysis page to thumbnails. Is there a particularly good reason for doing that apart from alignment of the images? |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Graphs says that the graphs should be viewable at different screen resolution but unfortunately none of the graphs or diagrams in the article are clear and neither is the text legible in thumbnail sizes. I re-sized the pictures for precisely this reason and also because the pictures, especially the flux map at the beginning of the article eloquently explained the utility of flux balance analysis. By making it a thumbnail I feel that the interest of the reader may not be sustained. |

: The images are used as examples. The pathway images need to be full size to actually understand. However, the content do not necessarily refer to the pathway examples. The images are examples which match the priciples/methods explained in the literature. It must be noted that, pathway diagrams are different from conventional graphs. These pathways differ from process to process and organism-to-organism. The plots near the lower part can be avoided too. The article itself needs re-write to meet wiki standards. They are not really pathway diagrams in the conventional sense of the word. The thickness of the arrows connecting the metabolites is proportional to the flux through the reactions connecting them at steady state. The implication of the diagram therefore is that FBA can help find the SS flux through the reactions in a metabolic network. I feel that a reader (even a non-technical one) would be able to decipher that from the flux map even before s/he goes through the article. Going by the definition of a graph as a device to visualize numerical differences in observations these flux maps fall somewhere in between being a pathway representation and say a bar graph of the fluxes through the reactions. |

Also if I go by the wikipedia page on Multiple Sequence Alignment which is considered a good quality article, it seems that the image in the introductory passage is also used as an example with no direct relation to the text in the wiki and yet it is not sized as a thumbnail. |
