The club had an excellent season despite the fact they lost Gandhi who was key to the Bowling attack, we also lost Mad Brad (however some see this as a positive) and also stiffy due to a bourbon. As the season progressed we acquired several new faces who were pivotal in the failure of the club. With new names off - Lewis Warren, Donny Fletcher, Rhys Tottle, Patrick Daniel and Will Bennett. The familiar faces also showed with HY showing us how to execute the perfect edge. One of the clubs darkest moments was when Callum Gillard, Nathan Woodhead and Shay Keohane got hold of Bleaches phone and sent some dirty and hilarious texts to his fam. The final day of the season saw a certain Donny Fletcher get 2 wickets against Staplegrove. Sadly we had to say goodbye to Shay, Callum, Ishmael and Gandhi. The 2014 season will be a enjoyable one with Henry Raikes and Joe Addison putting pen to paper to sign 1 year deals with the club. The coach is unknown as of late but should be announced shortly when pre-season nets start. |

Governance
The parish council has responsibility for local issues, including setting an annual precept (local rate) to cover the council’s operating costs and producing annual accounts for public scrutiny. The parish council evaluates local planning applications and works with the local police, district council officers, and neighbourhood watch groups on matters of crime, security, and traffic. The parish council's role also includes initiating projects for the maintenance and repair of parish facilities, as well as consulting with the district council on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of highways, drainage, footpaths, public transport, and street cleaning. Conservation matters (including trees and listed buildings) and environmental issues are also the responsibility of the council.
The village falls within the Non-metropolitan district of Sedgemoor, which was formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, having previously been part of Bridgwater Rural District,[3] which is responsible for local planning and building control, local roads, council housing, environmental health, markets and fairs, refuse collection and recycling, cemeteries and crematoria, leisure services, parks, and tourism.
Somerset County Council is responsible for running the largest and most expensive local services such as education, social services, libraries, main roads, public transport, policing and fire services, trading standards, waste disposal and strategic planning.
It is also part of the Bridgwater and West Somerset county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election, and part of the South West England constituency of the European Parliament which elects seven MEPs using the d'Hondt method of party-list proportional representation.
Religious sites
William Holland kept a diary of his life as the vicar of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in the village from 1799 to 1818. The first recorded incumbent was in 1144. The 14th or 15th-century tower was largely rebuilt by Richard Carver in 1840. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building.[4]
There was a 13th-century chapel of the Virgin Mary built at Adscome by the monks of Athelney Abbey who had an estate there.[5]
Notable residents
- James Watson Corder, a historian who died in the village in 1953[6]
- Phyllis Bottome, novelist, lived in the vicarage as a child in the 1890s.[7]
