Phantasy Star Online 2 is a video game in the Phantasy Star series that was published by Sega. It was released for Microsoft Windows[3][4] on July 4, 2012, and for PS Vita on Feb 28, 2013. It was scheduled for release on iOS and Android in 2013. It is currently only available in Japan, with North American and European releases still to be announced. It is also set to be released in Southeast Asia by 2014 with the game being published by AsiaSoft.[5]

Gameplay

At the start of the game, players can select one of the servers, known as ships, to play. Players create and customize their characters to be used in the game. The name, gender, race, character class, body features, and facial features are available for customization during the character creation process. There are currently four races available to the players in the game - Human, Newman (bio-engineered humanoid elves), CASTs (manmade androids) and Deuman (bio-engineered humanoid dark elves) and four starting classes - Hunter, Ranger, Force, and Braver.[6][7] Classes are interchangeable after creation. When players are finished with their avatar, they will begin playing in a tutorial stage, but additional avatars under the same account may choose to skip this tutorial stage.

Interface

PC Battle Interface of Phantasy Star Online 2. In the Ruins stage, the player battles Dark Falz Hunar, the main antagonist of the series.

The user interface and controls are similar between the PC and the PS Vita. By default players can play the game using a mouse and a keyboard, but may also play the game using an Xbox 360 Controller.
