The Greatest Event in Television History is a series of specials broadcast by Adult Swim that was co-created by Adam Scott and his wife Naomi.
Plot
The premise of the specials is a brief mockumentary about the shot-for-shot remaking of a TV series opening credits sequence followed by the remake itself. Scott says the specials are at least in part motivated by his own memories of watching 1980s television as a kid.[1] Each special has also featured Jeff Probst as a host. After the episode is done, the original opening credit scene that was re-enacted is shown.
The first special aired on October 12, 2012 and featured a remake of the credit sequence from Simon & Simon starring Adam Scott and Jon Hamm.
The second aired on June 6, 2013 and featured a remake of the credits from Hart to Hart starring Adam Scott, Amy Poehler and Horatio Sanz.
The third aired on November 7, 2013 and remade the credit sequence from Too Close for Comfort with Adam Scott, Catherine O'Hara, Chelsea Peretti, Kathryn Hahn, Jon Glaser and Jason Mantzoukas.
A fourth and final special is scheduled for release on January 23, 2014. In an interview Scott said that "it's a lot of work for such a short, stupid thing...they're really fun and they're fun to make, but we're ready to move on." [2]
