Arabissus was a town and episcopal see in the Roman province of Armenia II. The bishopric, a suffragan of Melitene, is now included in the Catholic Church's list of titular sees.[1] The Byzantine Emperor Maurice was born here in 539 AD.
Location
The town corresponds to present-day Afşin, formerly Yarpuz, in Kahramanmaraş Province, Turkey.[2]
Bishops
Its residential episcopal list is known from 381 to 692.[3] Its titular bishops include Stephen Peter Alencastre (1924–1940).
