Hopes and Fears is the debut album by British rock band Keane, first released in late spring 2004. It topped the UK album charts upon release, and has since gone double platinum. It returned to the top of the charts after winning a Brit Award for Best Album in February 2005.
It includes the singles "Somewhere Only We Know" (#3), "Everybody's Changing" (#4), "Bedshaped" (#10) and "This Is The Last Time" (#18).
The objects on the cover of Hopes and Fears are piano hammers. In addition, different regions have different coloured covers. UK has green, U.S. has white, international has a red-brown scheme and Japan has blue.
The album gets its name from a lyric on the song "Snowed Under", a song which does not appear on either the British or International versions of the album but does on the single "Somewhere Only We Know", the Japanese edition and on a CD+DVD version of the album.
