Critical Making

Introduction

The term critical making is invented intentionally to bridge the gap between creative physical and conceptual exploration. Open design involves digital software and hardware design. The term “critical making” reflects social and technical work.

Definition

Matt Ratto advanced the concept of critical making, which stimulates that learning is influenced by the learner's participation towards creating and/or making things within the technological context. High degrees of participation will help improve the learning activities, regardless of quality of the material production.

Procedure

Critical Making was firstly used by Matt Ratto, a professor at Faculty of Information in University of Toronto. Matt intended to help people understand concepts by making things-as ways to gain practical experience that involves more social study of technology. this is the procedure ^[1]
