The data-rate on an LP DECREASES as one moves towards the centre. The amount of information stored in the vinyl is directly proportional to the linear length of a track. More track length passes underneath the stylus per unit time on the outside of the disc, than near the centre of the disc. Thus, data-rate decreases.

"With an LP, the disc always spins at the same angular rate (CAV) of 33⅓ rpm, so the surface of the record groove passes the needle at slower linear rate as the needle moves toward the center of the disc." Was this once neccesary because due to inacuracies of motor speed control at the time of the format's inception.203.26.37.35

Another point: The data-rate on an LP DECREASES as one moves towards the centre. The amount of information stored in the vinyl is directly proportional to the linear length of a track. More track length passes underneath the stylus per unit time on the outside of the disc, than near the centre of the disc. Thus, data-rate decreases.

Vynil dics have no data-rate. Only digital media has data. --Xerces8 (talk) 12:21, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
