Nisar Memon (born 31 December 1942; Template:Lang-ur, Template:Lang-sd) is a politician from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. He is a member of the Senate of Pakistan, belonging to Pakistan Muslim League (Q). His daughter, Marvi Memon, was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Before joining the Pakistani Senate, he was the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting (1993 & 2002), the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Northern Areas and State & Frontier Regions (KANA & SAFRON) during 1993 and 2002, the Country General Manager for IBM (1989–1999) and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Engro Group Pakistan (2001–2002). He has been a member of the board of directors for PSO, American Life, and Capital Asset Leasing. He was the president of Pakistan's Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry, American Business Council, and The Reformers (an NGO).[1]

Senate career

As Senator, he was the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Senate on Defence and Defence Production and the Parliamentary Committee on Water Resources. He was a member of the Standing Committees of Senate on Foreign Affairs, Finance & Economic Affairs and Housing & Environment Committee.He continues to be Member Board of Governors National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences, Islamabad.[2]

Current engagement

Memon is the founding president of Aamnat Foundation which has launched Pakistan Literacy Project (PLP).[1][2]

Personal life

Memon has a wife and two children including Marvi Memon. Memon also has three grand children.
