Professor John Francis Brake Mitchell OBE FRS (born 7 Octobet 1948) is a British climatologist and climate modeller.
He was a convening lead author for the first and third IPCC Working Group I reports and lead author for the second. He is currently chair of the WMO JSC/CLIVAR Working Group on Climate Modelling.
He currently works at the Hadley Centre in climate modelling and detection and attribution of climate change and is Chief Scientist at the Met Office. He ist the most cited scientist regarding the topic of global warming.[1]

- Hans Oeschger Medallist - 2004[2]
- Shared the Norbert Gerbier-Mumm Prize with other colleagues, 1997 and 1998.
