Leaving Home EP is the major label debut EP by American rapper T. Mills. The EP was released for retail sale on January 13, 2012 by Columbia Records. Record production was handled by Omen, AudioBlack, Colin Munroe, and The Stereotypes among others. Leaving Home EP was supported by the lead single "Vans On" and a promotional single "The Boom".
Background
T. Mills signed with Columbia Records in early 2011 and begun working on his debut album. During a seven month process of creating it he recorded around 140 songs, which he narrowed down to 10. Then he decided rather than release an album, he would release a free project to the fans, which would be titled Leaving Home.[1] On July 22, 2011, T. Mills released Leaving Home as a mixtape with no guest appearances, and production from Noel Zancalla, Omen & AudioBlack, The Futuristics, Colin Munroe, and Phonix.[2]
On December 6, 2011, Mills announced he would be releasing five tracks from the Leaving Home mixtape as a EP under Columbia Records on December 13, 2011. The EP also featured the lead single "Vans On", which was released on December 12, 2011 and a new song "The Boom".[3][4][5] He performed at Los Angeles's The Roxy for the Leaving Home EP release show on December 15, 2011.[6] However the EPs retail release was pushed back a month, and released on January 13, 2012,[7][8] but, it was released for free for a short time starting on December 19, 2011.[9] Production was handled by J Hawk, Omen, The Stereotypes, AudioBlack, Colin Munroe, and Neal Pogue among others.[3][6]
