Assault rifle

"A police official confirmed that the gunman used a shotgun in the shootings, and investigators were also determining whether a handgun and an assault rifle were also used." I realize that this phrasing is probably just taken from the source but it is extremely unlikely that an actual assault rifle was involved as they are difficult to get and typically cost as much as a car. It is possible that an "assault weapon" was used but despite their intentionally similar names they are very different things that are important to distinguish between.
