Dave Mirra

Dave Mirra (born April 4, 1974 in Chittenango, New York, USA), is a professional BMX rider. Dubbed the Miracle Boy (also Miracle Man), Dave Mirra has won at least twenty world titles, as well as more X Games medals than any other X Games athlete, surpassing Tony Hawk in 2004. He was the first BMX rider ever to perform a double-backflip in competition and is also famous for breaking Mat Hoffman's seemingly unstoppable winning streak - a feat Dave achieved when he was only 18 years old. He endorses dozens of products and has his own BMX video game series; Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX. Dave currently lives in Greenville, NC, known in the BMX community as "Pro-Town, USA" - Ryan Nyquist, Ryan Guettler, Allan Cooke, Josh Harrington, Scott Wirch, Trevor Meyer and Mike Laird are some of the other BMX pros who live in the town. Dave has an older brother, Tim, who is also a professional BMX rider, though Tim is much less successful and has not competed in years.

At the 2000 X Games, Dave Mirra landed the first ever double backflip in a street competition.

In 2001 and 2002, Dave Mirra released two games called Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX and Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2. The company that previously made the Dave Mirra BMX games has filed for bankruptcy, and it is unknown whether or not any other companies will pursue new Mirra-endorsed games.

In 2003, Dave Mirra released a book documenting his life story as a photo biography, titled Mirra Images.

Also in 2003, Mirra was Punk'd (pranked on Ashton Kutcher's TV show by the same name; Punk'd) when actors posing as IRS workers attempted to convince him he was going to be convicted of fraud.

In 2005 Dave Mirra plated his BMX in 24k gold for the Summer X-Games. Shortly after, Mirra and his gold bike were featured in a Wendy's commercial.

In 2006 Dave Mirra left Haro Bikes, his bicycle sponsor for 11 years, and formed his own bicycle company called "MirraCo." with ex-Haro president Jim Ford. MirraCo. is distributed by Trek Bikes and so far the team consists of Dave Mirra, Australian Ryan Guettler, Mike Laird, Dave Rytell and two SoCal up-and-comers Michael Cleveland and Mike "Hucker" Clark. MirraCo. hopes to have products available by summer 2006.
