The station was opened in 1854 as part of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway and is located 15.98 mi (25.72 km) from London Fenchurch Street. Passenger train services are provided by c2c. Trains take six minutes to arrive at Grays at an average of 38.5 mph (62.0 km/h), 27 minutes to arrive at Pitsea at 36.6 mph (58.9 km/h), and 46 minutes to arrive at Southend Central at 33.4 mph (53.8 km/h).[4]
