Learning curve too steep to add Arbonne International jonincanada

Wikipedia is great but I was surprised that the controversial article on Arbonne International (cosmetics) was removed from wikipedia because advertisers where spamming it and doesn't have any good Google results. I tried to re-add the article but it was rejected by the wiki community. My question is whether there's an easy way to vote on entries in the "to create" queue? How is that prioritized anyway? Or I suppose I'll just have to wait for someone to care about writing a truthful topic more then I do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.117.99.3 (talk) 16:36, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Editor,

Could you please review the submission on 'Gradsect' as I believe all or most of the criteria for final acceptance have been addressed.

With thanks,

Andyggg (talk) 07:30, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article submission was accepted on 13th March and is now at Gradsect. The article is still an orphan, still needs more inline citations so that the content can be verified, and would still benefit from more wikilinks to make the content easier to understand for those not familiar with the topic area. Hello! My article was rejected for being too promotional. But I'm not sure I understand. Can someone point out the different issues?

Thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moment EN (talkcontribs) 21:04, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Moment EN: Yes, it sounds promotional. However, I couldn't point out a single sentence and provide a recommendation to change it, so I've accepted the article on the basis of the published sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 08:31, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If I put links/referances to show that the party is registered with the UK Electoral Commision will that be ok then? (Prule1 (talk) 02:40, 12 April 2014 (UTC))[reply]

@Prule1: Your entry has no references at all. Furthermore, you have to establish notability. Simply providing proof of being a registered party is insufficient to that end. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:58, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Citing newspaper sources

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Robert Pyne (politician)

Can someone please tell me now to use newspapers as a cited source when the articles in the publication aren't available on the website, such as older newspaper articles. Thank you. Icuraj (talk) 22:37, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the link to your draft.
To editor Icuraj: What you've done so far is just fine. Sources do not have to be available online, and you've already provided enough information for people to check the specific articles. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 23:54, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Icuraj: Let me put a finer point on my declination. Anon126 is right about sources not having to be online. I declined Robert Pyne (politician) because I have a hard time beliveing articles from The Cairns Post don't exist online and I'm not willing to assume good faith. If you'd like to cite articles from newspapers, {{Cite news}} is great for that. Fill in the fields (including date, issue, page, title, etc.) and that will help other editors to find those sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 21:52, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Chris. The Cairns Post doesn't have the older articles online. If I filled in more fields, like you suggested, should I resubmit the article. Thank you for any advice. Icuraj (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:59, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Icuraj: No problem. Yes, I would resubmit the article as other editors might then be able to verify those articles. (As you might imagine, we don't have old copies of The Cairns Post here in Los Angeles, so I can't verify them.) If the newspaper articles are legitimate then I think Robert Pyne passes general notability although he doesn't pass WP:NPOL. Another editor may disagree, however. Good luck to you. Chris Troutman (talk) 08:11, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much Chris. I really appreciate you getting back to me and your advice. Icuraj — Preceding undated comment added 08:43, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to help me with the article DNA MUSIC ? Can you tell me exactly which of the points of the article is not suitable for Wikipedia? Thank you for your time and support. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dnaction (talkcontribs) 16:05, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the link to your draft.
The main problem, Dnaction, is the entire list of works. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. The article about an artist should mainly be prose information about their work and life. That is, you should summarize the work and list only the major ones. (Prolific artists have separate articles listing all their work, but that comes only after the main articles about them are written.) Anon126 (talk - contribs) 16:48, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk: Articles for creation/School-Based Family CounselingI recently had my second Wikipedia draft rejected because "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources". The reviewer unfortunately did not give any detailed feedback beyond this and I was at a complete loss as to what changes needed to be made. Fortunately, an experienced editor on this Help Desk took the time to give me some detailed feedback that was enormously helpful so that I could move forward and make the necessary changes. Merci beaucoup for maintaining such prompt and detailed responses on this Help Desk! B. Gerrard Gerrardb (talk) 01:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Gerrarb: I'm pleased my prior response was helpful. I see you've added a lot of academic sources. It will take me some time to sort through them, but I believe I will accept this submission. I'm not sure what your question is. If you wish to submit your draft for submission, click the button that says "Submit your draft when you are ready for it to be reviewed!" Hello, my article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cypress Grove has been refused because of notability problems. I read thought I had inserted enough references. Can you give me some help in understanding what I can do, please? Thank you. Athenaathena07 (talk) 09:52, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Athenaathena07: The subject doesn't appear to meet WP:MUSICBIO. I'm not sure the subject passes WP:GNG based on the sourcing. Your two BBC citations (the only good reliable sources) don't mention the subject, at all. It may be that the subject simply will never pass muster. It happens. Chris Troutman (talk) 01:20, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The two BBC references both mention cypress grove as Jeffrey Lee pierce's later year collaborator and the person thanks to whom the Jeffrey Lee pierce sessions project came to be. But I will find some more references if needed. I am sure the official Debbie Harry website is also a good reference though. Athenaathena07 (talk) 06:34, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Athenaathena07: I stand corrected. I had searched for Antony P. Chmelik. Chris Troutman (talk) 06:39, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So what advice can you give me so that I can submit the article again? Because I read the WP:MUSICBIO and it says that the subject must have at least one of the requirements listed. And he does, right? Athenaathena07 (talk) 06:48, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Athenaathena07: Accepted Chris Troutman (talk) 18:43, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

a)Having submitted the article, I tried editing it as it says (in the yellow box): "In the meantime, you can continue to improve this article by pressing the "Edit" tab at the top of the window." However, when I did, I saw this at the end of the article: "Just press the "Save page" button below without changing anything!" Can I edit? b)I have already submitted my draft for review, but at the top it says 'Submit your draft for review'. This sounds silly but I'm unsure if I need to 'submit' every time I open the page. Thanks for any help. Kaayay (talk) 14:54, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Kaayay: I, too, am confused about the placement of those templates. Your article has been submitted. To my knowledge, you can still edit the article while it's awaiting review without having to re-submit it. Chris Troutman (talk) 01:29, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Chris troutman:Thanks, shall be 'bold'. Kaayay (talk) 07:00, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Forum Chriesbach Reviewer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hasteur keeps rejecting my article. Reason: no reliable sources. Forum Chriesbach is a model sustainable building in Europe. It was built by Eawag / Empa and Bob Gysin and Partner architect. So all documents on the project that are available so far are based on the research of the three main stakeholders of the projekt. The only external sources that exist so far are listed (see ref 2, or literature). All the sources are listed on Forum Chriesbach's Webpage as well. This is what Hastour keeps saying is not reliable as going to Eawags website only. Sorry, but this is reality when you want to write about a relatively young model sutainable building. The next problem is English as there is a bit more available in German on the building. Wikipedia German has accepted an article on the building (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_Chriesbach). So I don't know what to do to improve on the article (don't have any further external sources) so that it will eventually be accepted by Hasteur. Please help/advise. Eiswasser (talk) 15:08, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Eiswasser: First, you're not a new editor so I'm not sure why you think you can make arguments counter to long-held policy. Second, you created the German-language article in 2013 with no reliable sources and for some reason no one there had noticed. I've since tagged the page for needing sources. Your submission is similarly lacking sources and does not meet notability criteria. The good news is, there is no deadline so you are welcome to resubmit in a few years when this model of building has been better documented. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:33, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much Chris. I really appreciate you getting back to me and your comment. I know the policy very well. However, I decided to write about the Forum Chriesbach as it is one of the greenest buildings of the world (see my literature list) and a model of stustainable architecture. Eawag as a research institute and funded by the Swiss government has no commercial or marketing interest whatsoever. So the article on FC would only be helpful for all interested in sustainability or architectural matters. I know that it is uses by professors in the architectural dept. of ETH Zurich in their lecture. However, I doubt that there will be many more publications on the house in the future (it was built in 2007). The process of designing and constructing such a special office building (zero energy) was very well documented, however mostly in German (that is why it was accepted on Wikipedia there) and of the highest interest. I can only try to get in touch with the professors who use the building in their lectures and get more documentation. What is the minimum of external relieable resources required?Eiswasser (talk) 15:29, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Eiswasser: "I know the policy very well" I see no evidence of that. "see my literature list" I'm not doing a lit review. If you want to cite them as sources, go on ahead. "has no commercial or marketing interest whatsoever" That doesn't matter. We require independent sourcing, no exceptions. "mostly in German (that is why it was accepted on Wikipedia there)" The article was never accepted in an AfC process as you created it. The sources on the German-language article are just as suspect. I'm just waiting for other editors there to take notice. Mein Deutsche ist nicht so gut. There isn't an exact hard and fast criteria, but you'll need maybe two or three independent reliable sources (like reportage in the news, academic journals, etc.). If you can provide that I might think the subject is notable and adequately sourced. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:08, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again for your assistance, Chris. In the meantime I've provided independent sources as you suggested (Elevier journal article, case study from Zurich University, etc) also for the German version and resubmitted the articles. I hope the sources are now meeting the policy and you can reconsider their publication.Eiswasser (talk) 12:56, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Eiswasser: The bgp link isn't independent, as it's the website of the architect that designed the building. Hasteur has already declined your submission again, saying "still only trivial mentions in English about the building. Now the submission is conflated between the building and the primary occupant of the building.". When you strip away other non-independent sources (Forum Chriesbach - from vision to sustainable reality and New Standards in Sustainable Developments) this article still falls short. I recommend you userfy this submission and work on improving the Eawag parent article instead. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:43, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I have been waiting for a long time. I have provided 8 links that are from verifiable sources. Other people I have talked to have not had such a difficult time establishing a page. Please let me know why it is taking so long.

Thank You,

Joseph James--98.202.116.125 (talk) 17:25, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Josephjamesproducer and 98.202.116.125: As was pointed out in January, Wikipedia is not in the business of publishing autobiographies. I've declined your submission since it doesn't meet either our notability guideline for artists or our general notability guideline. I find your request distasteful since you recently received your undeletion request. Your submission hasn't been waiting all that long. Chris Troutman (talk) 03:54, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I submitted a redirect today but then realized whoever created the original article "Jeffmitchum" is under investigation for sock puppetry. So, I have submitted a new article for Jeff Mitchum and would like the old page deleted. I'm not sure how to do this so reaching out and informing whoever it concerns of my intention to create a legitimate page for Jeff Mitchum.

Thank you, Claudia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Claudinni (talkcontribs) 19:25, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Claudinni: User:Jeffmitchum is a user page so it won't be a problem. For whatever reason you've been editing that userpage. I've since nominated that page for speedy deletion since it's an unambiguous copy of another website. Your submission is an unambiguous copy, too, so you need to rewrite that information soonest. If you are in any way involved with the subject then I recommend you stop editing. Chris Troutman (talk) 03:31, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I have had this article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/O. Gail Poole rejected multiple times for utilization of "non-neutral" language. I have tried to use only facts in the article - though some of the biographical information comes from the artist's daughter's blog - and have addressed specific sentences that were pointed out as needing revision, but with no success. If I could get some advice on how to further refine the article, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much for your time.

@TerriJor: I chopped out some of the puffery as well as the unreliable sources and the text drawn from them. If this edit bothers you, you can revert it but this change is required to have the article accepted. Chris Troutman (talk) 03:02, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on editing this page and having trouble understanding what the editors comments mean, specifically "submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability" I am having a hard time understanding how multiple references in high profile court cases on multiple respectable international news sites (NY Times, CNN) does not establish notability. I have read the wikipedia guide on notability but I feel the sources do establish it. Can you clarify? Maria569 (talk) 22:52, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear reviewers, My submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rotating Armature Alternatorhas not been accepted. I got an email from my reviewer UkuleleDude Aggie80 that has the "Alert: 1 images have been blocked. Display Images in message. Always display images from this user." By the way, I have already performed the editing tutorials successfully.

I can remove all the images, but that would be a lot of work. There are over 23 images in my work so far. Please tell me which image is blocked and why.

Thank you. Douglas Nelson Turner Douglas Nelson Turner (talk) 14:51, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The message about images is from your email software or your web browser, not from Wikipedia or anyone at Wikipedia. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:42, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear reviewers: My redirect from "Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Rotating Armature Alternator" has three templates that impart

"Your submission at Articles for creation: User Douglas Nelson Turner April 11",
"Your submission at Articles for creation: User Douglas Nelson Turner April 12",
"Your submission at Articles for creation: User Douglas Nelson Turner April 15", have been not been accepted.

I have only submitted one draft and not under my name, but as "/Rotating Armature Alternator". Why are the rejection templates being produced, without my submissions? Am I inadvertently submitting? I won't knowingly resubmit until I know I've fixed any errors.

Thank you, Douglas Nelson Turner (talk) 15:09, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To editor UeharaKaori: The image first needs to be uploaded. I assume you want to upload a picture of Dan Liu that you took yourself. If that is the case, you should upload it to Wikimedia Commons (you can log in with the same username and password as on Wikipedia). You can then use the picture on Wikipedia. (Change the filename that says "DSC_4576.jpg" to the name of the picture you uploaded.) Anon126 (talk - contribs) 22:05, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How do i add a picture? 71.48.14.55 (talk) 20:56, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The picture first has to be uploaded. Because this article is about a living person, you should have a photo that you took yourself or that someone else has released under a free license (such as CC-BY or CC-BY-SA). If that is the case, you can create an account and upload it to Wikimedia Commons. After that, you can use it here on Wikipedia; read the picture tutorial to learn how. Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hruby Conservatory of Music

I noticed that a couple of sentences were edited out of my article regarding the description of the school. I thought it needed a citation. Since I did have a citation that I had not entered, I went to the Edit page to add it. The missing sentences in the article were still on the edit page, so I just added the citation.

However when I go back to read the article, the sentences are still missing (except for the last 2 words, "recital hall"), and the new citation is there. How can I get the sentences back into the article?

The missing sentences are: "The two story building housed the music school on the second floor. It had several studios for lessons and a formal concert recital hall." The new citation is titled: "Broadway and E 55th Area a Masked Beauty". Thanks. Musicandme51 (talk) 06:16, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see the problem. The sentences and the reference are both correctly present in the version of the submission that I can see. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:51, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Since this article is under review, I wasn't sure if the image did not load because the article hasn't been approved yet. Or does the account still need to be confirmed?

In the 1st round of the article the reviewer mentioned there were insufficient citations. As a result, I spent a lot of time on the web searching for citations and put up whatever I found that was relevant.

In the latest review of this article (Solana Networks), LukeSurl has indicated that there are too many citations and some of the citations are not needed.

It would be helpful to find out exactly which citations to delete. Can someone let me know? This would probably shorten the back and forth cycle.

thanks sdoya

Sdoya (talk) 02:42, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Sdoya: What LukeSurl is referring to is that you have a lot of citations but many of them don't link to reliable sources. You want to stick to CBC, The Globe and Mail, etc. One of your URLs is Reuters, but they're re-posting a PR release from Market Wire. When you take out all those non-reliable sources you have very little left to make a case for WP:GNG. You don't have to delete all of them but I would recommend restructuring the article around your few solid sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 06:35, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

I was wondering if somebody could tell me exactly what links I need to remove in order for my Wikipedia page to be approved. It has been declined twice and I would really appreciate a clear outline of what is wrong with it so that I can fix them and resubmit. The article is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dr. Salvatore Pacella. Thank you so much for your help!

DrPacella (talk) 21:49, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@InnoWikipedia: I cut out the long list of publications. While I know how important that is to academics, it means nothing here. Second, I started reformatting the references. That's not a required step but it helps me see at a glance what the sources really are. Reflinks is great for that. My concern is that the subject lacks general notability and most of the URLs provided are for organizations of which Pacella is a member, so they're not independent. He also fails WP:ACADEMIC as the Worden award itself isn't notable and there's no evidence he did any groundbreaking research. I'd also like to point out that this submission looks very promotional. @PerformerResearch: You're getting close to acceptance. The subject doesn't meet WP:NBAND but with more mentions in reliable sources (like newspapers, etc.} I think you might have a chance to pass WP:GNG. At this point though, I could not accept this article. Chris Troutman (talk) 05:03, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Chris, can you let me know what areas are do not have reliable sources? I have been looking at other pages and the sources I see on them don't seem to meet what you are saying as sources. None of which have newspaper reference. Many of the sources in my article are from legitimate publications like the Muse's Muse, Minor 7th and No Depression. If you can just give me some more specific guidance that would be helpful. Are any of the sources I have included not acceptable sources or is there a particular area in the article that is questionable. I really appreciate your help.

Thank you PerformerResearch PerformerResearch (talk) 12:47, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@PerformerResearch: First, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't a valid argument. Fully a third of Wikipedia is unreferenced and should be deleted but this project doesn't address that. You'll note I reformatted two references. It's not necessary but it helps me to evaluate sources. I had been unaware that No Depression was an actual magazine. Meanwhile The Evening Sun in upstate NY doesn't look like an actual newspaper though from a glance it looks like it might be. Most of your sources look like random websites so unless those publications have a Wikipedia entry of their own, I assume they're probably not reliable. I'm not a student of music so I don't have a lot of knowledge of the trade publications. I recommend you contact WikiProject Musicians as they would know more about this subject. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:46, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Chris, I will have to look at what you mean about WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I know that No Depression is recognized among the artist community, but I guess I really still don't understand what is official. Thanks for the reformatting. I will follow that format and your advice. PR PerformerResearch (talk) 18:34, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chris I see what you mean by other stuff exists as an argument. I was using other pages as a guide and examples of what I could use as legitimate and was confused and not necessarily as an argument. I see what you mean now by needing another project. I will check with Project Musicians. PRPerformerResearch (talk) 18:43, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

HgPchrd (talk) 12:27, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@HgPchrd: no Declined This entry still sounds very essay-like and it sounds that way because this subject doesn't really exist. Some writers are trying to describe current transformations into a "Fourth Industrial Revolution" but monikers like that are only properly applied by historians hundreds of years after the fact. It's a thing called periodization. Your essay is trying to sell what you think the 4th industrial revolution is. As more writers start describing what it is, there will be more material with which to write an article. I think it's too early. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:19, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

First, understand that Wikipedia is not a business directory. It only includes topics that are "notable," which means that they have been discussed by people who are independent of it. So you need to find independent, reliable sources of information (such as news articles or reviews) that discuss this organization and cite them in the article. @PPOffice: no Declined First, I become concerned when I see a user with your name writing a promotional article about a company called PinPoint. It doesn't appear you're here to write an encyclopedia. Second, your entry doesn't have near enough citations and without reliable sources, there's no reason to believe the subject is notable. Hi

I have re-submitted my article based on feedback sometime back which I have been building for almost a year now. I am keen to hear back from the reviewers. I have taken up the case of creation of this article to espouse the alternate view of researchers (research-collators in htis case) who have dared to go into the ancient and pre-historic era which is otherwise consigned to the brackets of "mythology". mainstream and the dominant narrative is not inclusive, and look forward to free-world wikipedia to help me out here!!!

Looking forward to a communication from your end!!!!

April 28

Hi there, I hope you can please help me with the following:

I have been working on the page for Eniac Ventures, and my last submission seems to keep falling behind more entries every time I check its status. Is there a reason for this? Can I do anything about it?

Also, the article has been rejected previously because it is too promotional. It seems like the things that might be interpreted as promotional are also backed up with citations. What would be the best way to reduce any promotional undertones in these sections?

Any help you can provide would be really appreciated.

Thank you!

@Loughlinrodd: First, there is no queue as reviews are conducted randomly. You're not falling behind. I took a look at the entry. Here's an example:
"Although a relatively young firm, Eniac has been ranked in the upper echelon of early-stage venture funds. In 2013, the Firm's fourth year of existence, it was ranked as one of the most active Seed investors in the United States by private equity research firm CB Insights 2013 Seed Investors Report."
That's all kinds of promotional. The cited source lists Eniac as #15, with absolutely no other text. Using puffery like "upper echelon" and "most active" is an attempt to shade the truth. The longest paragraph is a name-dropping exercise.
Most of your sources are business news at the best. Many of them are PR releases. The Forbes citation is an interview with someone at Eniac, so it's not independent. It's very questionable if this business has any notability. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:45, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
