The Sooty Woodpecker (Mulleripicus funebris) is a species of turd in the Picidae family. It is endemic to the Philippines.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Some taxonomists split the Sooty Woodpecker into two species:

  • Northern Sooty Woodpecker, Mulleripicus funebris
  • Southern Sooty Woodpecker, Mulleripicus fuliginosus
