Welcome to Wikipedia!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, such as the one you made to Wikipedia:In the news/Candidates. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Help pages

- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- Simplified Manual of Style
- Intuitive guide to Wikipedia
You are welcome to continue editing without logging in, but you may want to consider creating an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits such as the ability to create articles. For a full outline and explanation of the benefits that come with creating an account, please see this page. If you edit without a username, your IP address (77.101.41.108) is used to identify you instead.
In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}}
before the question on this page. Again, welcome! HiLo48 (talk) 06:25, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at WP:ITNC, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

ITN
We obviously got off on the wrong foot big time. By all means, I encourage you to nominate stories you feel are worthy of posting. If you can do so without making insulting comments about Americans, or how the story would be posted if it happened in the US, etc., we won't have any further problems.
If you look at my actual contributions (I supplied a list in the ITN thread), you'll see 19/21 stories I wrote this year are not US-based items. Most of these would have never been posted if I didn't write the stories. I do read American news source (which believe it or not does report international news quite well), but I also regularly check Australian, Indian, and South African news. Between these, I see most important stories - South America is the only region I rarely see stories from, which is due to my inability to read Spanish, not intentionally omission.
In practical terms, I do more to combat systematic bias than almost anyone else (for "in the news", I mean. I am sure others do more in other areas.). As a measure of good faith, tell which which you'd rather I write - the vagina transplant story or the china water story - and I will write the article. (The vagina story is more likely to get the consensus to be featured, IMO.) Since I already wasted most of my evening arguing, it probably won't be tonight, but I will write the article. --ThaddeusB (talk) 03:51, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
- For your reading pleasure: vaginal transplantation --ThaddeusB (talk) 17:59, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
That's really good. The excerpt "will need conducted" is missing the "to be" I think, but it looks really neat.
Currently theres a debate going on, on Israel v Palestine. Feel free to jump in. I'm taking a step back tonight, but it does interest me.
- Even if you are not very interested in writing articles, please do feel free to make such minor changes yourself in the future. --ThaddeusB (talk) 20:47, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Cool. Cheers. BTW the london marathon is on tomorrow and theres a slim chance manny pacquiao retires tonight.
the london marathon will definitely be bigger than the boat race here, if that makes any difference.
- The London Marathon is on ITN/R - the list of articles posted every year. Retirements are usually opposed ("he could always un-retire later"), but Pac-man would be worth a try. --ThaddeusB (talk) 21:14, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Nominations
Since you are making a lot of nominations, I would suggest that you please properly link article titles within the blurb and bold the primary article being highlighted; this helps others to evaluate the blurb. 331dot (talk) 12:52, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Indent
If you write a post that is a reply to another, it is customary to indent it with a colon once past that of the original poster, like this:
First poster
- Second poster
- Third poster
That helps keep the flow of the discussion and any side discussions that come up. 331dot (talk) 16:17, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- 331dot - tell me you are on this chile thing, and i will happily step the f--- away from my laptop and leave it in your good hands. Otherwise I am playing catch up big time attempting to write an article that may serve as a positive source of information for the great many people affected and interested by this sad occurrence.77.101.41.108 (talk) 16:22, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- I'm going to repeat what 331dot says - regardless of differences of viewpoint, please try to respect indenting rules if you are going to comment as much as you are. Add new comments at bottom of the section if it a new thought and not in reply to anyone, and if replying to an existing comment, indent appropriately. Your additions in opinion are fine, but the nature of how you are adding makes them difficult to follow, especially when you insert comments into the middle of a discussion point. --MASEM (t) 17:25, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
A cup of tea for you! And a biscuit.
Thank you for bringing your enthusiasm to the party, don't be put off by the moaners.

ITN for 2014 Valparaíso wildfire
On 13 April 2014, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2014 Valparaíso wildfire, which you recently nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. |

Edit conflicts
When you get an edit conflict message, you need to copy your comment, re-edit the page, and paste it then, instead of just proceeding like nothing happened. If you aren't careful, you inadvertently remove someone else's comment (as you have done several times recently). --ThaddeusB (talk) 23:19, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- Its not intentional. Ive lost comments too, but yeah, ive clued up on that one. My bad if you lost a comment. Will remember the process is back space the page, copy comment, get out of the page, and then re apply comment. Let me know if thats an issue. 77.101.41.108 (talk) 23:28, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
- That's the correct procedure. You didn't delete any of my comments, but I noticed it happen a few times today with other people comments, so I thought I'd make sure you knew how to fix the problem. --ThaddeusB (talk) 00:39, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Im done with the marathon article. I tried to weigh it up in competitive merit, and still include the farah public interest angle. I included a nice amount of information to conceptualise relative performances. go have a look. 77.101.41.108 (talk) 00:46, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- Looks good. I just made a few minor adjustments. --ThaddeusB (talk) 01:44, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Well...
...my fellow Devonian (If you are not from Devon, disregard that) you certainly make ITN/C a more entertaining place. Keep it up, haha. --Somchai Sun (talk) 11:21, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- ha thanks! Devon welcomes all, and Cornwall our neighbour - unless you're a stupid breed of tourist. And like some people have been saying, try not to read too much into people's comments/opinions on ITN/C and jump to conclusions. I know how easy it is to do that, as I have been guilty of it on too many occasions! --Somchai Sun (talk) 18:50, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
ITN
You don't know what media I look at and what I don't, so please stop saying that I only look at certain media. We have Google here in America, just like you have wherever you are. I don't appreciate the suggestion. You are also still have a very erroneous impression about what ITN is all about and I urge you to get a better one. Thanks 331dot (talk) 14:45, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
I agree with 331dot; cease your combative antics at ITN or you risk being brought to WP:ANI. WaltCip (talk) 17:57, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- Please, one of you (or someone) should start an ANI about this IP. I was planning on starting one but did not have enough time to write up a whole report at ANI. They are continually being disruptive despite being told to cease what they are doing. They also fail to understand what the purpose of ITN is. Andise1 (talk) 19:29, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:77.101.41.108, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 20:07, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- FYI to 331dot and everyone else, users are welcome to blank comments are their own talk page (unlike any other page). It is considered an acknowledgment that the message was read, which is sufficient. --ThaddeusB (talk) 04:03, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
