Cazenovia Lake /ˌkæz[invalid input: 'ɨ']ˈnoʊviə/ is a lake in New York, United States. It is located 20 miles from Syracuse, New York. Cazenovia, New York is located southeast of the lake. The lake is roughly 4 miles (6.5 km) long and 0.5 mile (1 km) wide. It is 65 feet (20 m) at its deepest point.
Cazenovia Lake is drained from its south-east corner which flows into Chittenango Creek about 1/2 miles (800 m) to the east. Chittenango then flows north, over Chittenango Falls and eventually into Oneida Lake's south shore in Bridgeport.
The north end of the lake is very weedy & swampy, making it difficult to motorboat through.
The lake resides in a valley created by sub-glacial runoff during recession of North American continental glaciers at the end of the last ice age.
The lake contains Pickeral, pike, largemouth bass, rock bass, northern pike, pumpkinseed, black crappie, blue gill, walleye, and yellow perch.
Cazenovia Lake's Native American name is "Owahgena," which means "lake of the yellow perch." The lake's USGS elevation is 1,200 feet (366 m) above sea level.
The lake has invasive species issues, including Eurasian Milfoil and Zebra Mussels.
