Your arrogance is astounding! I could not be in the least bit bothered if you delete the image. For starters it was uploaded by others. I mealy found it whilst wiki-linking the name and found the image on the Fred Copeman page!! I am very annoyed by your attitude towards me. I try to be as polite and friendly as I Can to other editors, its a shame the concept of this is above your intellect. It is obvious by your attitude that you thrive on creating conflict and intimidation towards others with your veiled threats.Cheeseladder (talk) 12:54, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Is it a coincidence that Stefan2 and Justlettersandnumbers stopped there contributions to Wikipedia today within 20 minute (Last @ 14:31 and @14:55 respectively) of each other, both work on Copyright violations, I wonder?
:::I hate to add to the workoad, but I think this one has to be accepted. A post here led me to War, where I immediately found copying (brief but blatant) from here. Cheeseladder apparently has little or no understanding of our copyright policies. If, as I think Moonriddengirl believes, there isn't too much of concern here then this should be over quite quickly. Orphaned non-free image File:Gosport and Fareham IRS.gif

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Gosport and Fareham IRS.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:05, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ryde Lifeboat Station has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

local organization with no demonstrated notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Orphaned non-free media (File:Gosport and Fareham IRS.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Gosport and Fareham IRS.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 15:55, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

CCI Notice

Hello, Cheeseladder. This message is being sent to inform you that a request for a contributor copyright investigation has been filed at Contributor copyright investigations concerning your contributions to Wikipedia in relation to Wikipedia's copyrights policy. The listing can be found here. For some suggestions on responding, please see Responding to a CCI case. Thank you. Dpmuk (talk) 01:49, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cheeseladder, thanks for your work on listing the User:Cheeseladder/Civil War volunteers.

As to the Fred Copeman image, then Stefan is absolutely correct on copyright and WP:NFC policy here. As such, he thus has the right to behave however he wishes about it. You might not like this, a better editor might drop you a line explaining their actions, but you have zero redress. There are even one or two NFC-busy admins who will probably threaten blocks against you for arguing, because they enjoy that. Also you had the temerity to start writing an article, and don't you know how much extra paperwork all these articles create for the WikiBureaucracy?!

Personally, like adding categories, I embed such images but use a leading colon :File:Fredcopeman.jpg, e.g. File:Fredcopeman.jpg This gives me a placeholder that I can easily convert later, but it avoids the "you can't do that in userspace" chorus. This works better than commenting out the image or removing it, but remember that Stefan is entitled to revert your wikicrimes, he's not required to make a useful edit instead.

A further problem on the horizon is WP:NFLISTS. It is inadvisable to provide a non-free image for each entry in such an article or section. (I suggest that you read the whole section carefully, as you're going to be tested on it later) There are a NFC-active few editors who obsess over this and choose to interpret it as "NFC images are forbidden in list articles". This is of course untrue and not at all what policy says, but you have a hard case to go against their self-belief. Dear old Betacommand was a right one for this, but fortunately he's banned now and so there's no chance at all that he has returned as the most active sock on the NFC boards.

If you are confused by all this (and who wouldn't be), then I'd suggest approaching Masem who is active in NFC, but pretty decent and even-handed in interpreting the actual rules, not making stuff up to fit an agenda. Andy Dingley (talk) 09:01, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andy
Thank you for your words of wisdom. I would have no problem with the removal of NFC image that I had included in the list, and would not have minded it being removed from my sandbox following some dialog with the objector. What I object to is the complete absence of good faith which Stefan2 has shown me. He should be the one threatened with a block for his behaviour. He should be reminded that an article being prepared in a sandbox is a draught and may not actually be created as an article. I will in future check the licence of any image I include as I have no wish to get involved in a dispute with people like Stefan2.Cheeseladder (talk) 09:53, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sortable wiki tables

Just a suggestion, it's possible to make a sortable wikitable column that sorts on a different order (i.e. surname) than what's visible.

Name Other stuff
Alexander John Alexander
Armitage Charles Armitage
Charlesworth Albert Charlesworth
Cockburn James Cockburn
Copeman Fred Copeman
Cottman Stafford Cottman

See WP:USER#Non-free images: "Non-free images found on a user page (including user talk pages) will be removed (preferably by replacing it with a link to the image) without warning and, if not used in a Wikipedia article will be deleted entirely." --Stefan2 (talk) 10:31, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Would it hurt to explain your actions at the time? Andy Dingley (talk) 12:31, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
