Musical career
(2008–2010)
Electrowavez’s is a duo of Music producers that consists of brothers Charlie shaabi and Richard Savo from Acre, Israel. They began their electronic music career in 2008. Electrowavez first appearance was on February 2009 with the release of "Kano Ya Habibi", an electro remix of the Lebanese Singer Fairuz. The remix was huge success and reached #1 place in the chart on Arabil, a local radio station. Electrowavez's electro house second single, "Give Me My Freedom", was officially released by Soul Shift Music on September 2009. The duo used a short sample of Oum Kalthoum- "Al Atlal", an Arabic poem that reflects one of the major themes of Arabic poetry, it also lends the text a patriotic dimension, mainly due to the political context of the time.
Brainstorm (2010–2012)
In May 2010, Electrowavez released their debut album, "Brainstorm". Eleven tracks were composed and written in a very deliberate and careful musical experience, and it took Electrowavez two years of work. In the "Brainstorm" album, Electrowavez brought a merger between two worlds, the East with the West, blending the electro house music genre with Arabic instrumentation and melodies. A collaboration between Richard Savo & Angelina Zbedat, "Sababa" was the first single released on May 2010, and it peaked at the number 1 position on the chart on Arbil-an Israeli Radio station. "Sababa"’s first TV appearance was on israeli TV Show "Haravak" (The Bachelor)[1] on July 2013. Few month later, in September 2010, Electrowavez released "Barcode" with featured guest vocalist Walid el Hilou, the release was a No 1 hit for three weeks in a row. Angelina Zbedat performed solo vocals on the single "My Life", released on January 2011 and it was the last release of the "Brainstorm" album.
Dubooster (2012)
Electrowavez released their "Dubooster" EP on March 2012. Not their typical style but as a dubstep side project it was aninteresting musical experience for the band. 5 tracks of the EP were composed differently from each other but were all still based on the dubstep rules. The "Dubooster" Ep's first track, "Cyber Attack", is a combination of bigbeat rhythm, mixed with old school rave and 80's techno samples, reminiscent of the electronic vibes of English group The Prodigy. "Phaza Morgana" - the 4th track on the EP - has a unique blending of oriental spirit and the dubstep wobbling bassline, it creates a desert camel caravan atmosphere. "Lost Island", the last track in the list is in a down tempo, reggae, dubstep beat. All five tracks are listed in Miles of Musik catalogue.[2].
Za3tar (2013)
The band's 2013 album, "Za3tar", was released on Jul 03, 2013. It features tracks influenced by psychedelic trance, Goa trance and dubstep genres. Notably this album contains a dark and full on psytrance subgenre and has different rhythm combinations. Work on the album was relatively short and it was published simultaneously with the development of the psychedelic music scene among the Arab community in Israel. Nature parties and psytrance events have been growing since 2012 and they became bigger and bigger very quickly, providing an opportunity for local artists to stand out. This opportunity has been a huge breakthrough to the band which received good reviews after their performance of "Za3tar". The "Za3tar" album was more successful than their other releases; Electrowavez enjoyed successful gigs in Israel and Palestine and this was their best selling album-it sold well at digital stores and as a physical CD. The album was entitled "Za3tar" or "Za'atar" after a popular Middle Eastern herb that carries many benefits.
