A Christmas Carol is a 1908 silent film produced by Essanay Studios in Chicago, and one of the earliest film adaptations of Charles Dickens' famous 1843 novella of the same name. It starred Tom Ricketts as Ebenezer Scrooge.

Plot

Miserly Scrooge goes into his office and starts working. Then his nephew comes, but Scrooge wanted him out. Then three ladies comes for money for the poor people. But Scrooge wanted them out, too. On Christmas Eve night, his long dead partner Jacob Marley comes as a ghost and warns him of a horrible fate, if he does not change his ways. Scrooge meets three spirits. They show Scrooge the true meaning of Christmas, and that Scrooge will die the next day. Scrooge cried. The next morning he wakes up on his bed, realizing that the spirits gave him one last chance to change himself. And then Scrooge was happy and good the rest of his life.
