Cross of Gradac is a cultural monument located in the village of Gradac on the property of Ćurčić Dragutin, surrounded by a large number of smaller crosses.

The cross was built in the year of 1662 and served as a village record.[1]

Architecture

Its size is rather unusual. Since the cross stands out in relation to the environment and is not near a cemetery, it is not thought to be designed as part of a graveyard. The reason for raising the cross has not yet been determined, but it's presumed that it was built in honor of an important event or a distinguished personality. Cyrillic text, which is shallowly incised, making it very hard to read especially due to the fact that it has been badly damaged, is visible on the cross. [2]

Studies have shown that for more than a century this cross was used as a village record. However, due to much ornamentation, the inscription on the cross in badly damaged rendering it difficult to read. Partial description shows that the symbols are from the period of Early Christianity; they were inscribed in the year 1662.
