ActivTrades is a global online broker authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK under Reference Number 434413 and by the CONSOB in Italy with number 97. It offers fully automated trading services with direct execution in Forex, Contracts for Difference (CFDs), and Spread Betting, aimed at both private and institutional investors.[1] It is also a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.[2]
History
Founder and Chairman Alex Pusco established ActivTrades in Switzerland in 2001 and moved to London’s “Square Mile” in 2005. In 2009, ActivTrades became more prevalent in Europe, especially in Italy and Germany as well as in South America, Russia, and South East Asia.[3]
In addition to its role as a Forex brokerage, ActivTrades started offering services to institutions needing support for their portfolio managers and to independent brokers. They also expanded their Premium Product range, launching the Virtual Private Server (VPS) and Molanis, and introducing the Trading Central Portal, Autochartist as well as exclusive add-ons aimed at helping traders with their trading strategies.[4]
In 2012, ActivTrades significantly expanded its presence in the UK, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia, as well as strengthen its position across Central Europe. The company also became a regular sponsor of the World of Trade Conference and has supported the conference for several years in a row.[5] Their loyalty program began in 2013, providing hi-tech products to clients.[6]
ActivTrades offered its clients use of the MetaTrader 4 platform for trading, and in March of 2012 also extended to support of MetaTrader 5 for its users; they also included Spread Betting to its portfolio for UK-based clients. ActivTrades was also the first UK broker authorised to hold client funds to offer extra protection to clients´ funds via a policy underwritten by QBE Underwriting Limited and other participating syndicates at Lloyd’s of London. This insurance covers up to £500,000 as Excess of FSCS Insurance.
Awards and Recognition
ActivTrades received recognition from a few different sources for its growth and services in 2013. ActivTrades received in 2013 recognition from Real Business, who listed the company in the Investec Hot 100 as the fastest-growing online broker in the UK and they were also recognized as the number 6 among the UK’s fastest growing companies.[7]
2013 also saw the first independent World of Trading Awards in Germany, where ActivTrades won an award for the top Forex Broker in recognition of its MetaTrader Advantage Account.[8]
In Dubai, they achieved the Best Retail FX Provider award as part of the Investment Opportunities and Wealth Management Conference, and also received an award for Fastest Growing FX Provider in the Middle East when they attended the Forty Currency Markets and Oil and Gold Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[9]
The Growing Business Awards for 2013 also included the firm on the short list for the Company of the Year (mid-sized) Award.[10] It was also selected as the firm with the Best Forex Customer Service by the Jordan Forex Awards in May. The judging panel cited customer satisfaction in the services ActivTrades provided to them. They also indicated other factors were ActivTrades’ use of award-winning trading platforms, and their provision of a safe trading environment to clients.[11]
At the Internazionale Le Fonti event in Italy, ActivTrades was recognized as the Best Forex Operator in both 2011 and 2012,[12] and was shortlisted in the categories of Best Customer Service, Most Innovative Company, Best FX Platform, and Best FX Retail Broker at the 2012 London Investor Show Awards. [13]
Platforms and Mobile Trading
ActivTrades offers MetaTrader 4 and 5, which is also available for mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Android. All available for the three type of accounts: MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and Islamic. They also provide mobile access via their ActivTrades mobile app, called ActivTrades Access where clients can manage their accounts on the go.[14]
