Lyriq Bent is a Canadian actor who is best known for portraying Lieutenant Daniel Rigg in the Saw films.

Life and career

Lyriq was born in Jamaica and moved to Toronto, Canada when he was six years old.[1] He later attended Seneca College in North York, Ontario.[2] After graduating college with high honors, Lyriq originally began his career as a computer graphic technician. His plans, however, were short lived as he decided to take up acting on a dare.[3] Since then, he has had numerous film and television appearances.

Prior to landing a co-starring role in the drama series Angela's Eyes, Lyriq guest starred on the UPN series Kevin Hill opposite Taye Diggs, and USA Network's Kojak opposite Ving Rhames.

He co-starred in the films Saw II and Saw III as Lieutenant Daniel Rigg, and starred as the central character in Saw IV.

From 2010-2014 Lyriq starred in the Canadian police drama television series Rookie Blue, portraying Staff Sergeant Frank Best.

In 2015 Lyriq will be portraying Chekura Tiano in the BET television mini-series, The Book of Negroes, based on the best-selling novel by Lawrence Hill.[4] He will also have a recurring role as Dr. Henri in 12 Monkeys, the SyFy television adaption of the 1995 film of the same name.[5]
