Cytometry Part A is a peer-reviewed scientific journal covering all aspects of the study of the cytome that was established in 1980.[1] It is the Official Journal of the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC).[2]

ISAC’s mission is to serve a multidisciplinary community by leading technological innovation, scholar-ship, and the exchange of knowledge in the quantitative cell sciences.

ISAC’s vision is to advance the impact of cytometry in meeting current and emerging challenges in the life, biomedical, and physical sciences.

Cytometry Part A focuses on all aspects of molecular analysis of cellular systems in the following areas: cytomics (studies linking the genome and proteome to cell regulation and function), flow cytometry, image cytometry, molecular array technologies, as well as other cell-based spectroscopic analyses and associated bioinformatics/computational methodologies.

Brian Mayall[3] [4] was the journal’s founding editor-in-chief until 1998. Jan Visser[5] and Charles Gools-by[6] subsequently succeeded Brian Mayall in this position. Attila Tarnok[7] has served as the Journal’s editor-in-chief since 2007.

This journal was formerly known as Cytometry and first published in July of 1980 with ISSN 0196-4763. It has been published with ISSN 1552-4922 since 2003. Cytometry Part A is associated with Cytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, ISSN: 1552-4930.

The journal is abstracted and indexed in:

According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2013 impact factor of 3.066.
