Ridiculous

"Going around a bend a few tenths of a mile from his parents' house, Favre was going quite a bit over the speed limit when his car went out of control." That sounds so lavished. I was around when that happened, everybody knew - and before he became "the legend" - would easily agree that he was drunk with his brother at the time of that accident. Can I prove it? of course not, only him and a couple people at most would ever know that, but could it be true?...... this somewhats explains why I protest wikipedia's original research policy. Either way I don't feel that what is written is NPOV with the line "Favre was going quite a bit over the speed limit" and will remove, or re-write it and likely due to it and its nature - the entire section, if it is not fixed. I originally added more information about the painkiller addiction two years ago, and have, for lack of a better term, 'put it back'. For your information I am the "revisionist" who removed that...I think it needed a better title...It was originally in its own section but if it's in the green bay section, that should be fine. Sorry about that...I have been one of the main people working on this article from week to week, and I personally didn't think it belonged in its own section.

Why does the article ignore the fact that Favre was a great QB in the 90s and has been a mediocre QB (at best) in the 2000s?

The overall tone seems like it's written by Favre's publicist. All of his 2000 playoff appearances (and isn't the playoffs what really matters - and his 90s playoff results made him a great hall of famer) involved embarrassing performances. 6 picks vs. the Rams including 3 returned for TDs. 4 picks vs. the Vikings including an incredibly embarrassing one. The game losing pick vs. Philly in OT. All of these poor performances plus leading the league in '05 in ints/passing attempt can not simply be blamed on supporting cast. I don't understand why adding the line "widely considered to be one of the best QB's in the history of the NFL" is considered POV when it's near statistical fact. Please, if Joe Montana can have that in his article, I don't see why Favre can't. Until someone points out a reason not to, I'm putting it back.

I'm not very technical, but I think this article could use a picture or two of Favre.

Agreed, but the problem is we have to find one that has no copyright issues associated with it. The picture would need to be public domain, or used with permission. FWIW, the Peyton Manning article uses a Sports Illustrated cover image, which apparently qualifies as fair use (see note in the image's page). --mtz206 18:58, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm actually pretty sure that using an SI article image like this is not fair use. Looking at the article Wikipedia: Fair use, in the 'What is not fair use' section, I see, as an example:

An image of a Barry Bonds baseball card, to illustrate the article on Barry Bonds. A sports card image is a legitimate fair use if it is used only to illustrate the article (or an article section) whose topic is the card itself; see the Honus Wagner article.

Now, what's interesting about this is, if someone wanted to create an article section or short summary devoted to the December 16, 1996 SI article - in the greater context of Brett Favre - we could probably legimately use this image in that section of the article. But just by itself, it sounds like we can't, and certainly not as the infobox image. I've been looking pretty hard for Favre images myself, and this is not an easy hunt.

2005 Season

I changed:

"Brett Favre had an average season with over 3,000 yards for a record fourteenth consecutive time, but he also led the league in interceptions with one shy of 30."

to

"Brett Favre had a below average season with over 3,000 yards for a record fourteenth consecutive time, however he only threw 20 touchdown passes and led the NFL with 29 interceptions. This gave him a passer rating of 70.9, 31st in the NFL."

Since it struck me as fairly POV to describe his 2005 season as "average", in a section discussing all the problems Green Bay had during the season as opposed to Favre's own poor stats, which are ignored. Barnas 17:12, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Consecutive-game streak

How many seasons has Brett started every single game? The first section in the article mentions that Brett started "every single game played by his team for nearly sixteen straight seasons". But the Records section mentions that Brett "started every game his team has played over the past 14-season period." Clearly, only one of these two statements is true. Considering that his streak started on September 27th, 1992 and that it is now 2006, I'm more inclined to believe that the latter statement is the correct one. Am I mistaken? Brett Favre has started 241 consecutive games, including 20 in the playoffs!

Last Name

I've always wondered why his name is pronouced "Farv" even though it is written "Favre"... Even with my (extremely limited) knowledge of French, I don't understand why "v-r-e" is pronounced "r-v". Kiln

The line that states that the Kiln does not have any paved roads or stoplights is incorrect. There are a couple of stoplights here and the roads are most definitely paid. In fact, the main road through the town is a state highway.

This whole article is a joke

It breaks every single "Policy and guidline" set forth by Wikipedia, I'm new to this, and I'm well aware the edits are controlled by a huge Homer Favre Apologist from ESPN. I'll figure out how to inform someone with higher edit powers that this has turned into a SoapBox for Favre's crybaby whiney fans to spill forth their BIASED OPINION on Favre. It seems to me, that you are just another Favre hater who just loves to post...****...bad things about him...actually that is 100% true. I just looked you up, because I am a very frequent editor on wikipedia....and it says you are no more than just a troll. Which, is what I figured, because you probably don't have the brains to understand that he is arguably the greatest quarterack in NFL history.

On what you said about "BS excuses", they are pretty much true. If you'd like, I'll change the article a bit to make it sound less flashy, but overall, the fact that he had absolutely nobody to throw to MIGHT have been a problem. For example, look at Peyton Manning. He has Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokely, Dallas Clark, (had) Edg James. Tom Brady? He has Deion Branch and Troy Brown. Carson Palmer? He has T.J. Houshmendzadeh and Chad Johnson...Shall I go on???

Yes, a Complete Joke

You can curse all you want little lady, it won't hurt my feelings. Incidently, he's not even close to the greatest QB in NFL History, nobody with his Resume of Complete Failures would be considered the best without bias. Labeled as Mr Clutch by his Fans (In an obvious attempt to take away from Elway's, Marino's, and Montana's ability to come from behind in the 4th Quarter) what does 'Mr Clutch' do when his time comes?? 3 Consecutive footballs into the dirt to lose the SuperBowl and FAIL completely at being the CLUTCH QB his fans pretend he is.

Favre doesn't stop there with his Failures though, his first two seasons without White and Holmgren to lead the team in 99 and 00, the Packers struggle to go .500 both years and miss the Playoffs because Favre is a COMPLETE FAILURE at leading the team. In 2001, when the Packers get a team good enough to carry Favre into the Playoffs.. he knocks them out by throwing 6 INT's in a blow out by the Rams. The next season, Favre plays horrible in the playoffs again vs the Falcons.. 2 Int's/2 fumbles.. another Packers loss. In 2003, Favre's team dominates.. 200 yards rushing and then in OT, Favre tosses up a hailmary because of a blitzing LB, and we all know Favre is afraid of Contact these days.. soo.. INT.. another Loss for the Packers directly the result of Favres INTs. 2004, The Packers struggle all year and then limp into the Playoffs.. only to quickly get eliminated by a lesser team.. the 8-8 Vikings.. on Favre's 4 INT's. In 2005.. your.. "disappointment" Favre stinks the entire year.. throwing 29 INT's, and losing 7 Fumbles.. 36 Turnovers at the hands of Favre alone.. and what do you Pathetic Favre Apologists do on this Page?? Unfortunately, his resume does show some failure in the playoffs...but I haven't been comparing him to Joe montana or John Elway. In '96, he won the super bowl, having an insane playoffs...then in '97, he got to the superbowl, not because he played badly overall, but because John Elway happened to be absolutely incredible that game, along with Terrell Davis. He threw 3 td's that game.

I don't feel like getting into more stats in detail, but in the '98 playoffs in the wild card game, he won the game with an 89 yard drive...horrible in the playoffs...definitely.

You don't even have a valid reason why he played badly in '05! He had a crap season because he had no team! The defense was so god-awful, even the '62 mets would cry. They had no one! NO ONE! Every time There was a touchdown of some sort, the defense would just give up another one! Favre made some bad decisions, but there isn't a quarterback who hasn't. They're defense could have been nick-named swiss cheese! It had more holes in it than george bush would after al-quaida finishes with him.

On top of that, he had nobody on offense! He had Samkon Gado, who actually did decently, but was nothing like what Ahman Green could have done if he was healthy. And Recievers???? He had Donald Driver, who was only average last season. You can't only have one guy on your recieving corps! He made some bad decisions with passes, and the reason he fumbled so much is because his offensive line blew donkey as well! Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezey could have done a better job with blocking! No matter how good you are as a quarterback, you can't prevent yourself from fumbling from time to time when you get hit in a blind spot. Favre last season got hit a whole lot!

One other thing I noticed about you, is that you fail to realize why Favre fans ARE Favre fans. He makes the games exciting by throwing a hail mary in overtime. So what if it misses? He made the game exciting! He's a gun-slinger! He throws the long ball, takes risks, and a lot of the time, those risks come out in a positive way.

You can hate Favre all you want, but he makes sundays in december better when you can watch him play, grab a beer, hang out with your friends, and have a good time. He makes watching games fun, man. Go dis somebody else, cause you're just wasting your time. Nobody gives a flying ---- about how you hate him and how you think he's an utter failure and how he couldn't hit the side of a barn with one of his passes.
