Derek Gaudet (born May 14, 1989 in Bayside, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian soccer player, who currently plays for Dunbrax Halifax FC in the Nova Scotia Soccer League.[1]

Career

Club

Gaudet began his career with Halifax County United and signed in 2004 with Halifax Dunbrack where he played for four years.[2] Gaudet signed a contract with Toronto FC in August 2008.[3] He made his professional debut on 6 September 2008, coming on as a substitute for Diaz Kambere against Chivas USA.[4] On March 3, 2010 the Portland Timbers announced the signing of Gaudet to a contract for the 2010 season.[5] After his releasing a year later from Portland Timbers, joined back to Halifax Dunbrack. He scored during the 2011 season two games in five games, before joined for studies to the St. Mary's University. Gaudet played two years for Saint Mary\'s Huskies and played club soccer for Dunbrack Halifax.[6]

International

Gaudet was a member of the Canadian U-17 and U-20 national teams.[7] He has also represented Nova Scotia at numerous national championships and at the 2005 Canada Games.[8] On 18 January 2010 earned his first call-up for the Canada men's national soccer team for an trainings camp in Florida.[9]

Personal

Gaudet is only the third Nova Scotia-born player to play in MLS.[10]

Coaching career

On June 12, 2012 was named as Technical coach of Metro Senior Womens B Soccer League club Sackville United.[11] Gaudet formed also in June 2012 the High Performance Futbol Academy in Halifax, Nova Scotia.[12]
