The VIP group currently consists of three titles (VIP, TV Now, Stellar) and four companies (Minjara Limited ("Minjara"), Vymura Limited ("Vymura"), Barndee Limited ("Barndee") and VIP Publishing Limited). Minjara was incorporated on the 30th March 1999 with a subsequent allotment (July 1999) of 98 shares: 44 to O'Doherty; 44 to his then business partner John Ryan and 10 to company employee Jill Geoghegan. In 2001 Ryan sold his interest in the VIP group to O'Doherty, resigned as director and was replaced by Michael O'Doherty's sister, Sarah. In 2001 Ulster Bank also took a charge over the assets of Minjara Limited. The current shareholders in Minjara Limited are O'Doherty 80%; Jill Geoghegan 10% and Rory Godson 10%. Minjara is the registered owner of the business names Vip Magazine and Kiss Magazine |

2011 annual returns show Minjara Limited as having net liabilities over assets of 224,911 Euros. In the case of the other companies (apart from VIP Publications, which has not yet filed annual returns), their net liabilities also exceed their assets. |

On the 13th August 2014 it was announced in the Daily Mirror <ref>http://www.irishmirror.ie/whats-on/whats-on-news/irish-teen-magazine-kiss-announces-4044433</ref>that 'Kiss' was to close. On the 23rd September 2014 an article appeared in the Irish Independent <ref>http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/company-behind-glossy-vip-magazine-set-for-liquidation-30610266.html</ref> stating that Minjara was insolvent and was to be wound up voluntarily with a creditors voluntary liquidation being set for the 10th October 2014. The article also stated that this would not affect the continued publication of VIP, insofar as Minjara had published VIP under a licence, which had recently been revoked by the licence-holder and granted to a new company, VIP Publications, which would continue to publish the magazine. |

VIP Publications was incorporated on the 20th August 2014 (a week after it was announced that Kiss was to close). The directors are Michael O'Doherty and his sister Sarah. To date, the issues surrounding the liquidation of Minjara have not been covered by any other news outlet other than for the Independent, for which Mr O'Doherty writes a column. Mr O'Doherty's column previously appeared in the Herald, but moved to the Independent following the appointment of the current editor, Stephen Rae. |

VIP, which has recently moved from Ely Place, Dublin 2, to new premises on the fifth floor of a building in Smithfield, is currently advertising for interns. |

==''The Dubliner'' failure== |

O'Doherty also failed to make a success of ''[[The Dubliner]]'' magazine, purchased by him in 2008, which ceased publication as an independent magazine in January 2012, eleven years to the day after the first edition hit the newsstands. The Dubliner's last editor was Martha Connolly, who is the current editor of VIP. Ms Connolly generated controversy in a series of articles in the Dubliner shortly before it closed, in which she in which she used the term 'darkies' to refer to African-American sportsmen and stated that she would sooner have cancer than allow herself to be intimately examined by a black doctor.<ref>http://www.independent.ie/unsorted/features/ispy-these-foreign-bodies-are-making-us-all-sick-26358561.html</ref> |
