Wikipedians-in-Residence

Piotr Puchalski was born in 1992 in Warsaw and moved to the US at the age of 13. He attended Midwood High School in Brooklyn and studied at New York University (European Studies and French). His interests in history include Polish colonial ambitions and the sinking of the RMS Titanic, among others. His hobbies include wrestling, traveling and literature. He is a recipient of a number of scholarships and awards, and in May 2013 he debuted as a writer with the publication of a novel, The Relics.

Piotr Puchalski is the Piłsudski Institute volunteer Wikipedian in Residence until August 2014.

Born in 1993, Adam Granatowski is a native of Opole, Poland. Moved to New York City in the summer of 2010, Granatowski continued his passion of hockey and played at the Junior A level. Currently an undergrad at the University at Buffalo, where he is also a part of the Bull's Road Cycling team.

Adam Granatowski will be the summer intern Wikipedian in the Pilsudski Institute from June 20 to August 31, 2014

Lukasz Chelminski immigrated to the United States in 1991. He attended the Bronx High School of Science, and got his BA at Stony Brook University. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Modern European History at the CUNY Graduate Center, writing his dissertation on the postwar Polish intellectual emigration—though he has a soft spot for the 19th century and Habsburg Central Europe. Lukasz also teaches history at Queens College, Brooklyn College, and The Cooper Union.

Lukasz Chelminski will be the Piłsudski Institute Wikipedian in Residence from September 1, 2014.

Adam Staszczuk was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Polish immigrant parents. He attended and graduated Brooklyn Technical High School and is currently majoring in History at the University of Scranton.

Adam Staszczuk will be the summer Wikipedian at the Institute starting on July 9, 2014.

Call for Volunteers

Our current Wikipedian-in-Residence, Piotr Puchalski, ends his internship at the Piłsudski Institute at the end of July 2014. He is moving to Madison, Wisconsin to continue his studies in global Polish history. We are therefore seeking his replacement, a volunteer Wikipedian-in-Residence at the Piłsudski Institute. Using the resources available in the Institute, its archives and library, the intern would work to expand the Wikipedia coverage in the topics related to the Institute and its resources, and help organize Wikipedia events etc.

We are looking for a person interested in the History of Poland, Central Europe and Polish/European emigration. Familiarity with Polish and Wikipedia editing are desired. With the help of Wikimedia NYC and Piotr we can also train the candidate the Wikipedia editing basics.

The Piłsudski Institute has a large number of resources related to modern Polish history as well as primary sources concerning outstanding historical figures and important events, for example soldiers who fought in both World Wars and Polish émigré activists and institutions.

We would also like to encourage Wikipedia enthusiasts to join the Wikipedia:GLAM/Józef Piłsudski Institute of America remotely and contribute to the historical coverage of Wikipedia.
