Revision as of 02:03, 17 October 2014

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Instructions for special cases

Sarah J Price

is a Welsh Playwright, film maker TV, Film and West End actor, reality star, musician, sports journalist, comedy writer and stand up performer, (Edinburgh festival, NYC Comedy club) and regular international radio and TV guest. the page was originally merged with two other Sarah Price's in an act of vandalism, the swimmer was separated, but the two 'film' Sarah Price's remained as one, my attempt to get the page back up and running on its own was removed, the main reason given for its deletion being "I found lots of Sarah Prices, but not this one" the problem being because of Ms Price's varied career a fair few of the 'lots of Sarah Price's' were indeed her, she has also worked under several stage names since she began her career in early childhood. her recent output as an actor I feel merits the page to be reinstated and updated. -Jasperxj (talk) 04:00, 4 October 2014 (UTC) Jasperxj (talk)[reply]

  • This ran through AfD and since you're saying that there were other sources and that she was merged with other Prices as an act of vandalism, this really should run through WP:DR. It's supposed to run through DR anyway, but in this case it'd be best to make sure that it goes through the proper channels. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:23, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can anyone help me is there another Admin other than Addshore (talk · contribs) I can make my request to? they don't seem to have been active for a while now, the deletion review page states talking to an Admin should be tried first, and my further investigation it seems that at one point 7 Sarah Prices had been emerged and at the same time Sarah J Price was deleted the American film maker Sarah Price was also proposed for deletion, but someone argued for her case, and her page stayed. however information about the welsh Sarah Price now links to her - I was in Afghanistan at the time of deletion so unable to state a case to keep the page, we are talking someone who's graced the West End stage and been in a films in the USA -thanks again Jasperxj (talk) 01:22, 11 October 2014 (UTC) (。◕‿◕。)[reply]

Movim is an important XMPP based upcoming decentralised social networks. Links are being added as references to its wiki page as data on it increases on the net. Having it's wiki page undeleted would be very helpful, thanks -Vanya (talk) 05:34, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Princess Marie Luise Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel

Princess Marie Luise Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel, (Template:Lang-de) (9 May 1814, in Copenhagen, Kingdom of Denmark – 28 July 1895, at Schloss Hohenburg in Lenggries, Kingdom of Bavaria) was a member of the House of Hesse-Kassel by birth. Through her marriage to Prince Frederick Augustus of Anhalt-Dessau, Marie Luise Charlotte was also a member of the House of Ascania and a Princess of Anhalt-Dessau. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Afriallifuld2550 (talkcontribs) 12:10, 10 October 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

Comment: The requestor didn't link to the article in question, but I guess that it refers to Landgravine Marie Louise Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel, Landgravine Marie Luise Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel, and hence to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Princess Marie Luise Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel (which the OP tried to blank), and to Princess Marie Luise Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel (recently re-created after deletion). --David Biddulph (talk) 12:25, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have just started to write this and it is a draft. I moved it to the sandbox "Save page" button below -Wadokata (talk) 19:35, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note: The page isn't deleted, therefore there's no reason to undelete it. Please follow the instructions on the deletion tag in order to contest (if a speedy deletion or prod/stickyprod) or argue against (if a deletion debate) deletion. Please note that stickyprods cannot be undeleted here unless you provide a source. I will confirm that the article is at User:Wadokata/sandbox, but it still is absent sources. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 22:42, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Grabcart.com

I have read your policy and understand it. The content I posted was not an advertisement but just information about the website. We would like to know why it was removed and request for it to be posted back up please. -Jennytomkins (talk) 23:14, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. "Just information about the website" means that the article existed for publicity purposes, which is prohibited. Also subjective wording like "wide selection" are certainly promotional. In addition, there was no evidence that the company is notable enough to meet WP:CORP criteria for inclusion, because the article cited zero independent reliable sources whatsoever, making it eligible for speedy deletion in accordance with WP:CSD#A7.
Furthermore, your use of "we" implies that you have a conflict of interest that you have not disclosed, as you agreed to do when you agreed to the Terms of Service when registering your account. Please read WP:COI and abide by it. You may try to submit your article again using the process described at Wikipedia:Articles for creation. But it will not be restored to main article space. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:39, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Losing Joe's Place (novel)

I forgot about the article but I believe that it did indeed have merit because most of the other books by the same person have been articled on Wikipedia, which is the free encyclopedia about EVERYTHING, and this award winning book has not yet been. -208.99.128.46 (talk) 00:09, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • On a side note, I do want to caution you about a few things. First off, the existence of other articles on Wikipedia (WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS) does not automatically mean that all books pass notability guidelines. There have actually been a few AfDs recently for some of Korman's other books, so the argument that because Korman's other books have pages doesn't really hold water. Also, I note that you included a link to Goodreads in the reception section. Please understand that Goodreads is not usable as a reliable source and any reviews on that site should not be placed anywhere in an article. Basically, the site is considered to be a social media site for books and because anyone can sign up and review, it's not usable as a reliable source because it's ultimately self-published. The Wordpress blog review falls under the same lines, as did the Allreaders review. Also, please be aware that the publisher link is considered a WP:PRIMARY source and cannot give notability. Other than that, you do need to state what award the book has won. Not all awards are considered equal and while some awards can give absolute notability (meaning we keep on that basis alone, like a Caldecott Medal) other awards can only give partial notability (akin to a review in a reliable source) while most others give no notability at all. I'm assuming that the award mentioned is the YALSA listing, which can give some notability but not absolute notability. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:59, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, the TeenInk review isn't usable either. If they're published in their magazine we can use them since they do have some editorial oversight, but other than that the site is pretty much one where anyone can submit a review. We can't guarantee that every review and article on that site is edited due to the amount that they publish, but from what I've seen it appears that the ones that are published in their magazine are so we can use those. I used to use the site as a RS myself, but I've had people raise some serious questions about the editorial guidelines on that site so I've stopped using them as a whole. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:02, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've done some general cleaning and so far it's pretty weak. I couldn't really find that much out there to show notability, so you will still have to dig pretty heavily for sources. If you can find the link to the SLJ's review then that would help, as the link in the article went to the Horn Book Guide. They're owned by the same people, but they're not considered the same publication when it comes to what they review and so on. I've also moved this to Draft:Losing Joe's Place to fit our new AfC name conventions. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:29, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Arise (musician)

The article was currently being worked on to meet Wikipedia's expectations. New sources were added and the biography was edited and polished. Please, please restore the page of this exceptional young talent so that I may work on it. Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.111.86.178 (talk) 00:45, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arise (musician), it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Deor (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. ~Amatulić (talk) 02:47, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a reason for why it was being deleted. The reason given was that " I am closing this because no more discussion seems to be forthcoming" That does not make sense because there is constant new information for this Hong Kong singer and actor and updating his music career and tv shows.

It was a soft delete that lacked discussion. The article facilitated all aspect necessary for notoriety, including: unique musical invention used on many albums released by record labels and contain footnotes to articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eric Tose Brian (talkcontribs) 20:10, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't how we determine notability. We require multiple references from reliable sources that discuss the subject in depth, are not tied to the subject in any way, and which have editorial oversight.Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:16, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It Was totally notable for many years on Wiki and now it's not? How does that happen? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eric Tose Brian (talkcontribs) 20:23, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Given the presence of the successful AfD and the fact that the sole !vote states the sources they found for it were wanting, calling it "totally notable" is a stretch. The reality is that there's only about 1000 active admins to curate 5,000,000+ articles. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:33, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What sources were not credible? To which ones do you refer? There were several. And how is a source a stretch? Isn't "stretch" subjective term? I mean you said, "discuss the subject in depth" what does that entail specifically? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eric Tose Brian (talkcontribs) 20:40, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A source is considered reliable if it meets all of the following criteria: (1) It isn't from the subject or a company that owns the subject (if not a person or group), (2) it's not from someone who has a financial, professional/business, or social connection to the subject, (3) it spends at least a paragraph, preferably much more, talking about what the subject is, (4) it has editorial oversight, i.e. an editorial board that fact-checks.
As I'm not an administrator myself (I would have actioned this request if I were) I have no way of knowing what the sources are or their reliability. You would have to ask the !voter (Joe Decker (talk · contribs)) themselves. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:47, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The sources were ISBN 9780946719952 and http://www.sonic-boom.com/review/lab.report-1.html (which has apparently changed over the years so it doesn't mention the subject). The book looks like an autobiography of Chris Connelly but I don't have a preview so I can't tell much else. IMO there's not much indication that the subject is notable, but I haven't done a thorough search. Protonk (talk) 20:53, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What are we to do? I don’t understand how you can delete it without researching the Connely book where it is discussed. Also you are saying that it is not longer a part of history because the web sources have changed? How much of the world will be lost because of this? This instrument was notable 25 years ago. Yes many of the websites that referred to it are gone. So is it no longer notable?

The New York times maybe a short mention but it was mentioned because it was notable.

Done. The AFD closed as a WP:SOFTDELETE, meaning it's not much different than a WP:PROD, therefore it's the type of thing that can be restored on request. However, it needs to be improved or it will likely get deleted again. ~Amatulić (talk) 02:22, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note: The page was speedily-deleted under criterion G11. Pages deleted under that criterion are generally not undeleted because they require complete rewrites to be viable encyclopedia articles or because they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. We don't permit ANYONE to use Wikipedia for advertisement, and we routinely block accounts that have a pretty severe conflict of interest. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:36, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. Wikipedia is not a social-networking site like Facebook or LinkedIn for people to write about themselves - see Wikipedia is not about YOU. The use of Wikipedia user pages is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST:

"Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia. Limited biographical information is allowed, but user pages should not function as personal webpages or be repositories for large amounts of material that is irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia. If you are looking to make a personal webpage or blog or to post your résumé, please make use of one of the many free providers on the Internet or any hosting included with your Internet account."

Libre

Useful knowledge lost. The page has become a disambiguation page but the original page is not listed. The original history has been replaced (so is also lost). Reason for deletion in deletion log: "2014-10-12T19:02:51 Frank (talk contribs) deleted page Libre (G6: Deleted to make way for move)". Where was it moved to? I suggest reinstating the page Libre as it was with all its history and talk before the deletion, and creating a page called "Libre (disambiguation)" for the current content. In that page, link to the reinstated page "Libre" with a note something like "(common usage)" or "(usage in free culture)". Alternatively, move the deleted page (and all its history) into one of those two names - i.e. into "Libre (common usage)" or "Libre (usage in free culture)". Thanks - kt (talk) 00:07, 15 October 2014 (UTC) -kt (talk) 00:07, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • It was deleted basically as a result of Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Libre. The original decision was to redirect the page to a disambiguation page but someone noticed that "Libre" is a better title, so the content of the disambiguation page was moved over the original article. Protonk (talk) 00:20, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Is it possible to get a copy of the page just before it was deleted?
      • I am interested in the content, history (for attribution purposes) and external links that were on the page (especially the references), and might (if I have time) work on it to make it worthy of being reinstated, perhaps under some other name or elsewhere (Wikiversity, WikiEducator, ...), and/or to make sure that nothing important has been lost (i.e. not covered in related articles). - kt (talk) 22:35, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done - I have userfied it to User:KTucker/Libre. I do have to say that this AFD is hardly binding on the status of this article. It was a non-admin closure with two !votes for delete and one for merge. I fully agree that there needs to be an article there ... if we have Gratis versus libre, it makes sense to have articles on those two topics. --B (talk) 23:35, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks B. Knowing how much work went into the page, especially by User:Sanglorian in 2012, and the reasons for making the effort, it is good to have a version with history somewhere. Personally, I would vote to have the page re-instated alongside a separate "Libre (disambiguation)" page, then more people will find it and help improve the article. - K (talk) 10:25, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Communist Voice Organization

This page was deleted by user Rjd0060 with three reasons given: No notability, No citations, and Nothing verifiable. The second two reasons are correctable with editing and therefore are not reason for deletion. As for notability: Within the ecosystem of left groupings in the United States the Communist Voice Organization is one of several communist trends which originated during the 1960's, developed under a series of different names, and which continues to exist today. Communist Voice Organization has existed in its current form since 1996, or 18 years. The Communist Voice Organization is alone in its theoretical opposition to Stalin, Mao and Trotsky, while supporting Marx and Lenin. As a result, the Communist Voice Organization takes unique stands on many political questions, and has amassed a large body of theoretical material on their website applying this theoretical position to numerous political issues which arose during the last 18 years, as well as numerous historical questions such as how to understand the development and fall of the former Soviet Union. For these reasons, a page on this organization is useful for researchers studying the United States left ecosystem today. Furthermore, a Google search reveals that 37 other Wikipedia articles reference the organization, and a Google search that is not limited to Wikipedia, but which excludes the Communist Voice Organization's own website: -site:communist voice.org "communist voice organization" results in 56,000 hits. -Ejrd1993 (talk) 17:23, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Ejrd1993: I think you misunderstand what "notability" means. It doesn't mean unique. It doesn't have anything to do with the material they've amassed. In Wikipedia terms, Wikipedia:Notability (and for organizations in particular, WP:CORP) means that the organization has received significant coverage (not trivial mentions or directory listings) in reliable sources (not blogs or press releases) that are independent (not associated with) the organization. If you cannot address these concerns, the article will likely be deleted again. For the time being, I have restored it as an expired WP:PROD ~Amatulić (talk) 20:24, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@VDNavarro: I almost didn't restore it due to the very promotional tone in the article, but this does seem like it could be notable. Not done @Abdchaudhary: There has never been any page at that title. Looking at your deleted contributions, did you mean User:Abdchaudhary/sandbox? If so, there's nothing to restore there. The only "content" you ever added to that page was a section header i.e., the sole content was "== Maulana Hamidullah Chaudhary ==" If you want to create a page about that individual (though the fact that the surname is the same as yours makes me think you have a conflict of interest and shouldn't be creating such a page at all) there's no need to restore a blank sandbox. It can just be created anew, this time with actual content.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:27, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Not done The "article" was only an infobox that looked as if it may have been copied from another page, complete with inappropriate tags. You can recreate this as a draft with some text that also explains what this means and why it is important. IronGargoyle's deletion reasons look wrong, and A3 or A7 could have been used instead. I would suggest that you work on a draft: Draft:Delong Padung instead. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:42, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
