The Adriatic Water Polo League, commonly known as the Adriatic League, is a regional professional water polo league that originally featured clubs from Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia. In later years, the league also consisted clubs from Italy and Serbia.
History
Adriatic Water Polo League was created in 2008. and consisted clubs from Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia. Member of the inaugural season were Jug, Mladost, Primorje, POŠK, Jadran Split, Medveščak, Šibenik, Mornar, Jadran Herceg Novi, Primorac, Budva and Koper. First champions were Jug. In the next season, VK Cattaro joined the league and Final Four was introduced into the league. Italian water polo club Pro Recco requested to join the Adriatic League, their request was granted so they joined Adriatic League in the 2011./12. season and immediately became champions, but they left the league after that season. Serbian clubs (Partizan, Crvena Zvezda, Radnički and Vojvodina) expressed their desire to join the league and they will in the 2014./15. season.
