Revision as of 14:52, 25 October 2014

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Instructions for special cases

Sarah J Price

is a Welsh Playwright, film maker TV, Film and West End actor, reality star, musician, sports journalist, comedy writer and stand up performer, (Edinburgh festival, NYC Comedy club) and regular international radio and TV guest. the page was originally merged with two other Sarah Price's in an act of vandalism, the swimmer was separated, but the two 'film' Sarah Price's remained as one, my attempt to get the page back up and running on its own was removed, the main reason given for its deletion being "I found lots of Sarah Prices, but not this one" the problem being because of Ms Price's varied career a fair few of the 'lots of Sarah Price's' were indeed her, she has also worked under several stage names since she began her career in early childhood. her recent output as an actor I feel merits the page to be reinstated and updated. -Jasperxj (talk) 04:00, 4 October 2014 (UTC) Jasperxj (talk)[reply]

  • This ran through AfD and since you're saying that there were other sources and that she was merged with other Prices as an act of vandalism, this really should run through WP:DR. It's supposed to run through DR anyway, but in this case it'd be best to make sure that it goes through the proper channels. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:23, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for you help Tokyogirl179 (。◕‿◕。) Jasperxj (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 01:56, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi can anyone help me is there another Admin other than Addshore (talk · contribs) I can make my request to? they don't seem to have been active for a while now, the deletion review page states talking to an Admin should be tried first, and my further investigation it seems that at one point 7 Sarah Prices had been emerged and at the same time Sarah J Price was deleted the American film maker Sarah Price was also proposed for deletion, but someone argued for her case, and her page stayed. however information about the welsh Sarah Price now links to her - I was in Afghanistan at the time of deletion so unable to state a case to keep the page, we are talking someone who's graced the West End stage and been in a films in the USA -thanks again Jasperxj (talk) 01:22, 11 October 2014 (UTC) (。◕‿◕。)[reply]

Hi again, still getting no reply from Addshore (talk · contribs) or help from anyone else i have found there is a page in someones sandbox (User:Toyahfan) which merged with the original page which was deleted and the new information now available about Sarah Price a 'more' valued entry could be created, I could start again, but fear it would be deleted as a matter of course. Please someone help! Cheers Jasperxj (talk) 03:06, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If Addshore isn't responding, then it's time to take the case to WP:DRV. The deleted article is about football writer, musician, and comedian. Is that the same person? If not, it would be best to start from scratch. Or, I could restore the article to your user space for you to improve. ~Amatulić (talk) 04:29, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Jasperxj:, @Amatulic: Userfying it would probably be a good idea, although I'd still recommend maybe running it through DRV just to be safe, since there were a few people who brought up that these were all different Prices. I'm just slightly worried that someone might speedy it thinking that this would be the case (that they're all separate) and that the deletion rationale hadn't been resolved. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Tha Boogiewoogie Man

(This user used the preload form for AFC undeletion, but did not specify the name of the AFC draft they would like undeleted. Consider checking their deleted contributions.) 76.219.224.195 (talk) 18:28, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This page has been deleted multiple times as an abandoned draft article. As Articles for creation, the Draft space, and user subpages are not to be used to indefinitely host material inappropriate for the encyclopedia, what exactly would you do to help make the draft get accepted as an article? —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:23, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Libre

Useful knowledge lost. The page has become a disambiguation page but the original page is not listed. The original history has been replaced (so is also lost). Reason for deletion in deletion log: "2014-10-12T19:02:51 Frank (talk contribs) deleted page Libre (G6: Deleted to make way for move)". Where was it moved to? I suggest reinstating the page Libre as it was with all its history and talk before the deletion, and creating a page called "Libre (disambiguation)" for the current content. In that page, link to the reinstated page "Libre" with a note something like "(common usage)" or "(usage in free culture)". Alternatively, move the deleted page (and all its history) into one of those two names - i.e. into "Libre (common usage)" or "Libre (usage in free culture)". Thanks - kt (talk) 00:07, 15 October 2014 (UTC) -kt (talk) 00:07, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • It was deleted basically as a result of Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Libre. The original decision was to redirect the page to a disambiguation page but someone noticed that "Libre" is a better title, so the content of the disambiguation page was moved over the original article. Protonk (talk) 00:20, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Is it possible to get a copy of the page just before it was deleted?
      • I am interested in the content, history (for attribution purposes) and external links that were on the page (especially the references), and might (if I have time) work on it to make it worthy of being reinstated, perhaps under some other name or elsewhere (Wikiversity, WikiEducator, ...), and/or to make sure that nothing important has been lost (i.e. not covered in related articles). - kt (talk) 22:35, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done - I have userfied it to User:KTucker/Libre. I do have to say that this AFD is hardly binding on the status of this article. It was a non-admin closure with two !votes for delete and one for merge. I fully agree that there needs to be an article there ... if we have Gratis versus libre, it makes sense to have articles on those two topics. --B (talk) 23:35, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks B. Knowing how much work went into the page, especially by User:Sanglorian in 2012, and the reasons for making the effort, it is good to have a version with history somewhere. Personally, I would vote to have the page re-instated alongside a separate "Libre (disambiguation)" page, then more people will find it and help improve the article. - K (talk) 10:25, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion initiated here to improve the article, starting with points addressing the reasons for deletion and in support of undeletion. --K (talk) 07:45, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @SG Ultima: I notice that you requested that this get restored back in April, but you did not touch the submission at all. I'd like to have some reassurance that you will edit the article this go round rather than for it to sit and stagnate for another six months and then get deleted again. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:59, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • @SG Ultima: Please give me some indication that you will edit this by responding to this post! The problem is that I'm afraid that this will only sit around again and as Wikipedia is not a WP:WEBHOST to indefinitely host material, I'd like some reassurance that you will work on this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:46, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not done Since you have not responded to two attempts to ask for reassurance, I have no choice but to assume that you have abandoned your request and would likely not edit the article at all. I'm sorry, but we cannot indefinitely host material on Wikipedia and we'd need at least some assurance that you would edit the article and make it appropriate to add to the mainspace. Atomic Hydrogen Power

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below -HACNY (talk) 19:13, 17 October 2014 (UTC) Someone wants to delete my article or has on Atomic Hydrogen Power. Otherwise, there is no such article explaining much about the atomic hydrogen welding machine either, or the concepts involved in developing it in the 1920s by GE. My article is composed of mostly quotes from science and trade articles from the creators of atomic hydrogen power including Nobel Prize winner Dr. Langmuir credited with its creation in 1911. The workers that used the atomic hydrogen welder in the 1920s and later, were made to wear heavy equipment and photographic film to measure radiation levels from the technology. Dr. Langmuir is credited with breaking the hydrogen atom in 1911. I am trying to contribute a look at early clean energy technology, and the confusion is why Dr. Langmuir broke the hydrogen atom, and Wikipedia does not want to have an article about that. HACNY (talk) 19:13, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. You wrote the article in the context of welding, and we already have an article atomic hydrogen welding, which you could have expanded and improved instead of creating a subject fork. That is the only reason why it was deleted. The deletion has nothing to do with your assertion that Wikipedia "does not want to have an article" about what you wrote. The reality is, Wikipedia doesn't want to have two separate articles about essentially the same subject. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:12, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My article on Atomic Hydrogen Power was more detailed with how the atomic hydrogen welder was developed by GE and the scientists involved, as well as by General Electric I wrote for an encyclopedia not a dictionary. It was not a duplicate and the atomic hydrogen welder was just one of the stomic hydrogen products discussed. I had several sections regarding Atomic Hydrogen Power and some of the scientists involved with quotes and more than eight pages of material. It is quite possible that my Atomic Hydrogen Power article was way too advanced for Wikipedia, but that does not give Wikipedia the right to be unkind and try to make my Atomic Hydrogen Power article look like a duplicate. How come Wikipedia does not have any in depth articles on clean energy technology before 1930? No one at Wikipedia has answered this. I want my Atomic Hydrogen Power article put back up. • Not done There really isn't anything to restore there, not really. It's ultimately a request for other people to create an article on someone called AAAAA, "a human & alien life form, living more than 6000 years from the birth on the earth". The rest of the page looked like it was all pure original research and I honestly can't see where it could be turned into a workable article for Wikipedia. I am R.BALACHANDAR fROM Tamil nadu ,India. I am the Author for both papers.

CUMINCAD doesnt have copyright because i am author for that article. i have the proof if need i will submit.

If you think that means this gives you the ability to use them as the text of a Wikipedia article, you are wrong. Per the Berne Convention, all works are fully copyrighted regardless of who authored them, unless explicitly disclaimed otherwise. We cannot accept the text even if you're the author, unless you explicitly release it under a free license (See WP:Donating copyrighted materials), and even then that is not a guarantee that it will be used. Also, Note: Of the speedy deletions this article has, the most recent deletion is a A7. Articles meeting this criterion are generally not undeleted either because they require a complete rewrite or they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. We will never undelete G12 deletions here, either. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:46, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Jeremy you are wrong here, as if the claim for copyright infringement was in error, it can be undeleted. In this case there is a possibility as the author may release it under a free license. However the content is already under an AFD discussion. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:55, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done and will not be done I've linked these both together because ultimately these are asking for the same thing to be restored. I'm sorry, but this will not be restored and there are several reasons for this. The first is that there is a concern about copyright. If you want to run a ticket through WP:ORTS showing that you have the copyright and want to give up permission for its use then that's one thing but you cannot just say that you are the author and that you can give us permission. We cannot verify that you are the author just because you said so and there's also another issue: if this was published anywhere then there is an additional problem over who actually owns the paper. I've seen some places require that the author give up all material copyrights to the journal/publisher. You'd have to show ORTS that you own the rights to the material as well. Now even with that issue solved, there is still a big issue over the overall notability of the subject of Astro Vedic Architecture. I cannot see where anyone is talking about this topic other than the author himself, so that is reason in and of itself for me (and other admins) to not want to restore the article. To make matters worse, there are concerns that you may be using Wikipedia as a place to promote this subject, which is also something that would warrant deletion- as is the case at User:Balacr3. I'm not even going to get into the potential WP:SOCKPUPPETRY going on since you appear to be editing from this account and User:RBalachandar without openly stating that you are the same person and giving your reasons for opening two accounts. I'm sorry, but I will not restore this and to be honest there just doesn't seem to be enough notability to warrant a page any time soon. The best place to submit your work would be various journals, not Wikipedia. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:41, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I also have to give you fair warning: repeatedly adding this to Wikipedia can be seen as spam, which can lead to you getting temporarily or permanently blocked from editing. I would also recommend against requesting that this get restored to the mainspace via this board. You've already been declined once on here and on your talk page- asking repeatedly is very unlikely to get a different response in this situation and could also be seen as spamming. Please note also that the content does not violate any copyrights and can be published after your verification and approval.

Promotion isn't entirely about intent as it is about wording. However, with two G11s, an A7, and an AfD, it's incredibly unlikely this page will be restored. (Note that this page has never been deleted on the basis of copyright (G12).) —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 21:21, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • As this was originally deleted at AfD, you'd have to ask either User:Michig or User:Jimfbleak if they would restore the article, although deletion review is always an option. The article did have content that could be seen as potentially promotional in tone, plus I did not see where you addressed the issues brought up at AfD of notability. The LEI does seem to exist and they do seem to do very, very good and noble work, but these elements do not automatically mean notability on Wikipedia. You'd have to show that the institute has received coverage in reliable sources like newspapers and the like. These sources do not have to be in English and I would also suggest asking for help at WP:INDIA as far as source location goes, as they can give some very good tips for where to go for sources. GitLab

GitLab is the only product/service listed in Comparison of open-source software hosting facilities which doesn't have it's own article and is also significantly more common than others on the list and was mentioned in Chicago Tribune; I don't see why it shouldnt qualify too -Diskurs (talk) 14:23, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I, oo64eva, request the undeletion of this Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD A7. GitLab is widely used open-source software for using Git collaboratively. GitLab is used by over 100,000 organizations and hundreds of software developers have voluntarily committed code to the project. It is mentioned in over a dozen other Wikipedia articles. GitLab is notable both for its aid in developing software, but for its example of successful open-source project management. -— oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ 15:47, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is no AFC submission for GitLab, and it was not deleted by WP:CSD#A7.
Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/GitLab, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Mark Arsten (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:49, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake. Could you assist in pointing out what the appropriate process for getting this article undeleted might look like? — oo64eva (Alex) (U | T | C) @ 18:45, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Oo64eva: it would look like this:
  • Read WP:Notability and WP:Notability (summary)
  • Identify independent reliable sources discussing GitLab
  • Contact the administrator who closed the deletion discussion, user Mark Arsten (talk), linking your sources, and ask him to restore the article so that you can add references. Alternatively, he may agree to "userfy" the article - move into a sub-page in your user space where you can work on it.
  • If he is happy with the result, he will restore it; if not, you can appeal at WP:Deletion review.

Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia; but I have doubts whether this can be made acceptable - it reads as the project telling the world about itself, based entirely on its own documents and website, but an encyclopedia article should largely summarise what has been written about the subject independently; hence the WP:Notability requirement for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." This page was created as a brief editing assignment in my social cognition course at University at Buffalo. I asked students to create brief biographical sketches which included at least two headings, one of which must include two subheadings. They were also asked to link to additional wikipedia pages and include at least one citation. This assignment was so that students could get experience in this user environment prior to editing pages related to course content. The pages are not meant to be up long-term, unless a student wants them to be and they conform to wikipedia guidelines. However, this one was not even up long enough for me to see (and therefore evaluate) it. -BeanKD (talk) 14:29, 21 October 2014 (UTC) BeanKD (talk) 14:29, 21 October 2014 (UTC)BeanKD[reply]

@BeanKD:  Done - restored. Sorry about that: the formatting and the use of the third person gave a New Page Patroller the impression that it was an attempt to produce an autobiographical article, but it should not have been deleted.
The main Wikipedia user page for each account is intended for the contributor to say something about themself and their Wikipedia work, and we do have some trouble with people whose only purpose here is to create an elaborate Facebook-style userpage. Limited biographical information like this is acceptable; but it would be a good idea to advise your students to write in the first person. See WP:User pages for more information. If you move on to more elaborate exercises, they would be better done in sandbox pages.

Atomic Hydrogen Power (2nd request)

My Atomic Hydrogen Power (1911-1945) was deleted by VQuakr (talk) even though no one seemed to complain about it while it was up. The Atomic Hydrogen Power article is mainly a discussion of early Atomic Hydrogen Power scientists with mainly quotes and more than 25 sources including Nobel Prize winning scientists such as Dr. Irving Langmuir. Further, I discuss General Electric's involvement in it as development of an Atomic Hydrogen Power machine prior to 1930, the current General Electric article on Wikipedia by someone else does not mention much about GE until after 1940, or their involvement in trying to create clean energy. I believe that VQuakr (talk) is overstepping himself, or there is some bias involved in his deleting my Atomic Hydrogen Power article for what he considers verbiage. Nobel scientists called it "atomic hydrogen" and that seems correct according to their own writings. HACNY (talk) 17:47, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sections combined as they are about the same topic, but do not have the same text. Note also the current request higher on this page, here--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:57, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have not received a straight forward answer as to why my Atomic Hydrogen Power article was deleted. It was accurate, and not a duplicate, had several sections on different Atomic Hydrogen Power topics, and was more than eight pages with quotes from notable scientists including Nobel Prize winner Dr. Irving Langmuir and others, with more than 25 sources. So far, I have been given unacceptable responses that have no bearing on the reality of what my Atomic Hydrogen Power article conveys, nor about its contribution as an article to early clean energy technology development prior to 1930, and its discussion about General Electric prior to 1930 and the scientists involved in its development. I don't plan to oppose the restoration of the template, Graeme, but I thought I would mention that I don't agree that G5 was "not strictly applicable". G5 is "Pages created by banned or blocked users in violation of their ban or block, and which have no substantial edits by others". (My emphasis.) There is obviously a judgement to make about what is "substantial", but it is certainly not the case, as you seem to be suggesting, that any other editor having edited the page automatically invalidates G5. In this case, I find it difficult to see adding the words "2014 African Women's Championship" as a substantial edit. @FredrickEllifsen:  Not done. Since the article Prajyot mahajan was created by user Prajyotmahajan (talk) and contained extremely promotional language like "Prajyot's astonishing technique enhances his lyrical interpretations. From the whimsical to the bittersweet, Prajyot brings science and poetry into perfect harmony", it is understandable that it was considered to be self-promotional autobiography. Since you are his manager, you have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and should read that guideline carefully. In brief, you should not edit about your client directly, but may submit a draft for consideration by uninvolved users.
As you have a draft page in your userspace at User:FredrickEllifsen/Prajyot Mahajan, you should submit that for review, when it is ready, by clicking the green "Submit" button at the top. Its chances will be improved if you first edit it to make it less promotional by removing "peacock phrases" like "highly unique style", removing gossipy unsourced material and making sure that all claims are verified from reliable sources. Done - as an Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored on request. Please edit the page to address the issues raised when it was declined, and re-submit it; "Articles for creation" is not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:10, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Salman M.A. Salman

The article was deleted because it lacked sufficient copyright. I would like to recover the page and contents in order to edit the copyrights which were taken from the website which I own, www.salmanmasalman.org.

This is my first time working on wikipedia so I thought that saving it would keep the content in draft before before going for final editing and publication. Could someone also please explain how I can now re-edit this page and have it edited by WP editors before going live?

thanks sarah -Sarsalman (talk) 16:45, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarsalman: Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, because you clearly have one regarding this subject. To answer your other points:
There is no way we can restore copyrighted material. The page content can be emailed to you, but there isn't really any point to that if it came from a public website to begin with. To make it acceptable for use on Wikipedia, the copyright holder would need to put a notice (like a footer) on the web page saying that the information is released to the public domain, or released under an acceptable free license. Or, the copyright holder would need to use the template at WP:CONSENT to send an official permission statement to the Wikimedia Foundation, from a verifiable address.
As to your final question, because you have a conflict of interest, your best venue for submitting articles is Wikipedia:Articles for creation. There, neutral editors will review your submission prior to accepting it for publication on Wikipedia. This may involve multiple submit-reject rounds before it is accepted. To ensure acceptance, the article must be written in a neutral manner and conform to the requirements outlined in Wikipedia:Golden rule.
Based on the above, the request for restoration is no Declined. Thank you for your understanding. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:05, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your response. If I re-write the article content and include a copyright holder (since the information is coming from the website which I own) could I then resubmit for approval/editing by you guys?

thanksSarsalman (talk) 18:00, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarsalman: yes, you can, but you may find it harder than you think, because Wikipedia is not intended as a place like Facebook or LinkedIn for people to write about themselves, and an encyclopedia article is a different thing from a CV. Start by reading Wikipedia:Autobiography, and note in particular that if an article about you is accepted, you will not own it or be able to insist on your preferred version: others can and will edit it. If you want a page about yourself that you can control, Wikipedia is not the site for you.
The inclusion criteria are stated at Wikipedia:Notability, WP:Notability (people) and WP:Notability (academics). WP:Donating copyright materials explains how to make the necessary copyright release for any material from your own website that you want to use.
In line with the WP:Conflict of interest guideline, you should not post an article directly, but submit it by the WP:Articles for creation process, for an uninvolved user to review. Read WP:Your first article and WP:Writing better articles for advice.
One further note: as a Wikipedia contributor you have a "User page" at User:Sarsalman, but that is not intended for extended biographical material; its use is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST and WP:User pages. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:21, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Um, slight correction.... "If I re-write the article content and include a copyright holder" -- no, you can't include a copyright holder in any Wikipedia article, because you irrevokably give up any claim for anything you write on Wikipedia. If you want to copy material from a web site you own, you must follow the procedure I described above: either put a notice on your web site that the particular page being copied is in the public domain or releasable under an acceptable free license, or write to OTRS with a legal notification of release under an acceptable free license. Those are your only options for copying material from elsewhere to Wikipedia. For your own protection, we can't rely on assurances from random Wikipedia accounts that happen to have a similar name. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:21, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ok that makes sense, thanks Sarsalman (talk) 13:04, 24 October 2014 (UTC) Sorry, one last question, where on the page would i post the notice? is there anywhere in particular on the page where it should be posted? top? under references? under its own heading? thanks Sarsalman (talk) 13:06, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The release notice should not be on the Wikipedia page, but on the source website, thus making it clear that the actual owner of the site is granting the release. It would typically be at the head or foot of the page, like a copyright notice, but the actual placing is not important. The procedure is explained, and a form of words suggested, at WP:Donating copyrighted materials.

Star Wars: Jedi Academy (book)

It is turned into a redirect page and I want you guys to change it back into an article. I spent a long time to make that article so please change it back. -Awesomeninja1589 (talk) 22:56, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Awesomeninja1589:  Not done. The page you wrote was made into a redirect in preference to deleting it, but it would not have been an acceptable article, because (a) it gave no indication that the book is notable enough to have an article - Wikipedia is quite selective about subjects, and not every book deserves an article, see WP:Notability (books); and (b) it was almost entirely plot summary. An article about a book needs more than that, see WP:NOTPLOT #1. Don't be discouraged, but read WP:WAF for advice about writing acceptable book articles. If you're not happy about this, discuss it with user Randykitty (talk) who made the redirect. JohnCD (talk) 09:23, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:Miranda Lawson butt shot.png

I know, I know, beautiful name for a picture, one to be prized. So, this file was deleted for being unused non-free media. It now does have a use, in Miranda Lawson (I've commented out the redlink to the image for the moment, will place in as soon as image is restored). Rationale for image should already be in there, I had intended to use it in the article but jumped the gun in uploading it. -– Mr. Stellarum (talk) (contribs) 02:22, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Briggsdale, Columbus, Ohio

Article Deleted in 2011 because it was a small article and deemed 'Unremarkable;' Doesn't appear it was deleted for any other reason than it was a small article. Requesting the Article to be restored for my students because I'm an instructor for a course: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Program:Ohio_State_University/City_and_Regional_Planning_(Fall_2014) and have students selected Briggsdale for their course project. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kenitzer.1 (talkcontribs) 11:47, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Kenitzer.1: checkY Restored to draft. This article was deleted after a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Briggsdale, Columbus, Ohio, so should not be undeleted here; but I have restored it into the Draft namespace at Draft:Briggsdale, Columbus, Ohio, where your students can work on it. Before returning it to the main encyclopedia, please consult the administrator who closed the discussion, user Tone (talk), who may decide that it should go through another WP:AFD discussion.
The reason for deletion was not that the article was short, but that it gave no references to show that Briggsdale met Wikipedia's inclusion criterion, WP:Notability, which looks for evidence of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."
The result of previous discussions on articles like this is summed up at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Common outcomes:
  • Cities and villages anywhere in the world are generally kept, regardless of size or length of existence, as long as that existence can be verified through a reliable source. This usually also applies to any other area that has a legally recognized government, such as counties, parishes and municipalities.
  • Larger neighborhoods are usually kept if their names are found to have verifiable widespread usage.
  • Smaller suburbs are generally merged, being listed under the primary city article, except when they consist of legally separate municipalities or communes (e.g., having their own governments).
The neighbourhood is presently covered at Neighborhoods in Columbus, Ohio#Briggsdale. Whether a stand-alone article can be justified will depend on how much coverage you can find. That will also help to meet the WP:Verifiability requirement. WP:WikiProject Ohio is a group of users interested in this area, where your students may be able to get help and advice.  Not done This page is for requesting undeletion of articles that were deleted uncontroversially, not for ones deleted after discussion, on the merits, which is what occurred here through Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jimmy Peremene Gidion. I know you are aware of that discussion since you edited it – for some reason attempting to post the article's content there. If the topic was not a hoax, please post some reliable sources showing the identity of this individuals and his exploits. Even if the basis for the deletion was incorrect—it was not a hoax—reliable sources are required for all articles and especially ones on living persons so finding such sources is something that is needed regardless] and will go a long way toward finding a resolution to the current situation.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:49, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
