Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

GitLab

GitLab is the only product/service listed in Comparison of open-source software hosting facilities which doesn't have it's own article and is also significantly more common than others on the list and was mentioned in Chicago Tribune; I don't see why it shouldnt qualify too -Diskurs (talk) 14:23, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GitLab is used by over 100,000 organizations and hundreds of software developers have voluntarily committed code to the project. It is mentioned in over a dozen other Wikipedia articles. There is no AFC submission for GitLab, and it was not deleted by WP:CSD#A7.

  • Read WP:Notability and WP:Notability (summary)
  • Identify independent reliable sources discussing GitLab
  • Contact the administrator who closed the deletion discussion, user Mark Arsten (talk), linking your sources, and ask him to restore the article so that you can add references. Alternatively, he may agree to "userfy" the article - move into a sub-page in your user space where you can work on it.
  • If he is happy with the result, he will restore it; if not, you can appeal at WP:Deletion review.

In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning organizations companies will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. Rosemount International School (formerly Rosemount Kindergarten)

One article I wrote was removed for being “promotional”.

I do not agree, however I have a positive view of the company I wrote the article about and perhaps some found it to be too cheerful. I would be willing to change the article, to make less “promotional” however it was removed without giving me a chance.

If you read other articles of private schools in Singapore they are all written in a similar way, it is hard to describe a high quality school accurately without it at the same time sounding promotional. That being said I will take the Briticism to heart and change the content so that it is more balanced.

I wrote the article because I used to be employed at the school. Friends and families back home would search for it, and complained that there is little information of the school online. I thought I would change that I and therefore wrote an article describing the school, it's history and what it offers.

It is one of the oldest private schools/kindergartens in Singapore, and it makes sense that there is an article on it. I was sad to see it has been removed. The only thing I can think of is that one of it’s competitors marketing team have reported it. A lot of new schools has been opening in Singapore in later years and some have a rather aggressive online marketing strategy as a way to push into the market. It is sad to see that they get priority on Wikipedia over a small company that does not have a marketing team.

The article was legitimate. I was not paid to write it and I no longer work for the company. I did it because I love the school and I could not believe that there was not already a Wikipedia article on it!

I am no expert user of Wikipedia, I do not know how to retrieve my old draft. Can you please send it to me so that I can make some changes and put it back up?

Not done @Alcot: Hi Alcot. The page appears to be primarily made up of copyrighted content content copied and pasted from this site. We cannot undelete copyright violations. Please note that if you are the author of that content or own the copyright to it, you would have the release it to the world (not just a license it for Wikipedia use only) under a suitable free copyright license or into the public domain in order for it to be posted here (more information about the mechanics of doing so is at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials) but some of this material would have to be rewritten even if it was released. Freefall (webcomic) (second request for undeletion)

The initial request for undeletion was submitted on October 3. The ensuing discussion can be seen here. Essentially, it was suggested I discuss this with the admin who initiated the original deletion of the article in question. I posted the request to his page, and this request can be seen here. There has been no response in over three weeks, which I am not criticizing; we all have our own reasons for not keeping up with Wikipedia. Nonetheless, I feel this is sufficient time to move forward and request that this process be forwarded to the next stage, bypassing Stifle's authorization and opening an actual discussion on undeleting the Wikipedia article Freefall (webcomic). I'm placing this back into contention for undeletion one more time, using this as my justification:

"If you are not a fan of Freefall you ought to be. Alas, it really will involve some time because it is a serial story, and the current panels are shocking — that is, they have a total surprise that I do not think many readers saw coming...The story is well developed and very logically constructed. I’d like to see it win a Hugo. I've never considered anything about iTunes charts (or Amazon or anything else) to be a credible claim of importance, because the data is, by definition, unverifiable. It has the same weight as saying they're popular in their neighborhood. Apple maintains constantly revolving charts for each country it does business in, and does not provide a historical archive (which is the reason it is not considered for WP:NALBUMS or WP:MUSICBIO, but that's another issue). Every other garage band article speedied contains claims about iTunes. The rest of the references were to Soundcloud (another staple of these). That said, I have no problem restoring this to draft, assuming Gorr721 can provide a few references that halfway prove there is some minimal coverage of the subject. The article Forum d'Avignon was deleted because my username did not meet Wikipedia's username policy. I have asked for a change, which has been done. @Laure Kaltenbach:  Not done The article was not deleted because of your username, but because it was too promotional - it read like the Forum telling the world, in great detail, the story it wanted the world to hear. If you wish, I will "userfy" the article for you - move it into a sub-page in your user space where you can work on it. Then you should ask the deleting administrator, user FreeRangeFrog (talk), for permission to re-post it; if he does not agree, you can go to WP:Deletion review.
When you re-write, try to think of yourself not as writing for the forum, but as writing for Wikipedia about the forum, from outside, including only the things a general encyclopedia reader might wish to know, and leaving detail (such as long lists of members of the advisory board and "personalities who participated" and papers published by people associated with the forum) for the Forum's own website, where anyone who wants the detail can access it. Beware, too of "peacock terms" (a special opportunity.. ambitious proposals.. these exclusive studies... ) and generally of seeming to want to "sell" the Forum. I am John Hindhaugh as per the entry although I did not create the page. The page was deleted despite several citation of articles and other media to suppport the entry. Either way, it is ineligible for restoration by request on this page.
You can try making your case to the deleting admin Anthony Bradbury, and if you are not satisfied with his response, you may take your case to Wikipedia:Deletion review. I'm sincerely sorry. I'm going to just be honest and hope it works out ok for me. I have asked for an undeletion of this article in the past. Although I'm still trying to figure it out, my main purpose for undeletion is to save the entirety of the article (the Wikipedia coding, formatting, etc.) in a Notepad file so I can work on and adjust it in the future. For reasons I don't understand, I can't seem to find the file I had originally saved the first time I requested an undeletion, so, at this point, I'll be starting 100% from scratch if the file is deleted and lost forever. If it's ok, I'd like one more extension so I can save it, work on it at a later/better time, and try to re-submit it in the future.

  • Done I think the comments from the reviewer need to be addressed before this can be moved into mainspace. I'd also suggest that the draft be rewritten to make it sound less like the "about page" for the law firm and more like an encyclopedia article.
