Dear Sir,

I have received this message,

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk

hello Orangemike

Apologies if I missed earlier warnings, or if the file was incorrectly tagged however can I check please your speedy deletion of this photograph. The photograph was important to the article. The reference citation in the article on Jeffrey Street was as follows and my recollection is that a similar citation was present on the photo page:

"View to St. Aloysius' College above foreshores of Kirribilli" (photo). 1 copyprint; b&w; 204 x 254 mm, This photograph shows construction on foreshores of Kirribilli above Jeffrey Street. Above the foreshores is St. Aloysius; College incorprating Dr. Cox's home. Whilst barely visible above the trees is the tower of Star of the Sea Church. The homes Greencliffe and Craiglea are also visible on the right hand side above M. Steel boatshed. Jeffrey Street Wharf and Jeffrey Street: North Sydney Council, original publisher unknown. 1930s. Retrieved 27 June 2010. Image 001\001004

The file appears on the Local Government website and the source attributes the photo to "c 1930s". I thought (mistakenly) that all of the correct tags has been used both in the article and also on the photo page. I refer also to the Australian Copyright Council which states that in Australia Copyright has expired in photos taken prior to 1 January 1955. This photograph is therefore approximately 20 years out of copyright. Refer to the copyright regulation here.

<http://www.copyright.org.au/find-an-answer/browse-by-what-you-do/photographers/>

Can I seek your advice please as to how to reverse this or what additional "public domain" style tag you feel was missing which should have been present on this photo to cover any other countries copyright laws etc? This photo has been on this article for almost four (4) years and this is the first time that the PD status / copyright of these very old photos has been raised as an issue.

Is my deleted article stored in the Wikipedia database?

I was told my article about Claudia Caporal was deleted because it was biased and I was too "close" to her to be able to write her article. Is there a way to rescue the writing I did for it so that I may then edit it to an appropriate stage for publishing? Thank you. KatieLee92 (talk)

My page was just deleted

Hello,

My page was just deleted Draft:Marco, Inc. and I am not sure what to do to fix. I am asking for advice, this is my first article. I will make any changes necessary to get my article back up. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marco Technology (talkcontribs) 21:26, 13 October 2014 (UTC) Marco Technology (talk) 21:34, 13 October 2014 (UTC)Marco Technology[reply]

First off, you need to change to an acceptable username. Then, you have to fully disclose your conflict of interest. Last but not least, I very very very VERY strongly advise you to make other edits here, to establish your legitimate presence here, before suggesting that somebody else, somebody other than yourself or anybody else at Marco, create an article about this company. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:43, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

By advising me to make other edits here, does that mean to practice editing around before I create mine? Thank you. Marco Technology (talk) 21:53, 13 October 2014 (UTC)Marco Technology[reply]

By doing legitimate edits, edits in which you do not have a conflict of interest, you establish that you are not one of those people obviously not here to build an encyclopedia. This will strengthen the legitimacy of your appeal for help in finding somebody else (NOT YOU) to write an article about Marco. But first: get a name change. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:00, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mike. Hoping to make a new Marco, Inc. article with the unambiguous advertising tone removed. The promotional content would be removed and it would be a completely neutral point of view article, just simply stating facts. Wondering what your thoughts were or any advice you suggest? Thanks. St. Cloud (talk) 17:25, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We do not absolutely forbid the creation of an article by somebody with a disclosed conflict of interest, such as yourself; but we do very strongly discourage it. If this company is legitimately notable, then suggest the creation of such an article at our Articles for Creation page, fully disclosing your COI as you do so. Profer your neutral information from vefiable reliable sources to be used in such an article. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:57, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category: School board members in Wisconsin

Hi Mike-Many thanks for starting the Category: School board members in Wisconsin. Okay-in starting articles about Wisconsin legislators-the Wisconsin Blue Book legislators biographies mention that those legislators were clerks of the school boards, directors of school boards, board of education, even high school boards. This can be interpreted as being the same office. A clarification? Thanks-RFD (talk) 12:40, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say that "director of the school board" is more like Superintendent of Schools, even if it's elected by the school board from among their own number; whereas if Milwaukee is any example, in the 19th century "commissioner of schools" meant you were on a multi-member "school commission"= school board. Clerk of the board sounds like a position not held by a board member. A high school board is the board of education for a separate high-school district: you'd have six to ten local boards for six to ten primary/middle schools (one-room or two-room); then a single unitary high school with its own board. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:49, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My inactivity...

'Twas brillig, and a slithy tove / Did grind my hard drive's gyre and gimble;
Whereafter all my data-trove / Had access not so very nimble.
Alas, a borrowed 'board I use / Until my own is fix'd aright;
'Till then I hope I may amuse / Whene'er I briefly here alight. -- Raven (talk) 17:02, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm already watching the SPI to see how things turn out. Or are you suggesting I'm a sock of KatiiK? I'm a bit insulted — I think my edit history speaks for itself. I'm just concerned that somebody's biting newbies and silencing criticism rather than just replying to it. Blocking someone for block evasion smells suspiciously of arresting someone for resisting arrest. --Pfhorrest (talk) 23:43, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pf: there is a long history of people who come to this tiny cluster of article talk pages to rant unconstructively about how misandrist/gynecentric the feminist movement is. KatiiK seems like just the latest of these, and I had a kneejerk reaction to your sudden defense of the obvious new troll. My apologies. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:53, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bands

Do you have any experience on band pages? I was hoping to get some input on whether "Twice as Good" warrants an article (see sourcing:[2][3][4]) The sources look good/in-depth, but have a strong local California leaning, as oppose to national level sources.

I pinged user:DGG[5], but he said he doesn't have much familiarity with band pages. He did point me to Native American Music Awards where the band is listed. I have zero experience doing band pages, because any inquiry I have received were obviously non-notable cases. CorporateM (Talk) 17:35, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orangemike- you stated the violation as: "Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to The Martin County Library System. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion." We were creating the page as informational. As many public libraries are doing. References were going to be included such as the library home page, demographics and others to the same standard before it was deleted. There is no way to create a better page because each attempt to link from the county page it simply links back to the county. Ej1128lib Ej1128lib (talk) 20:56, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning about Promotion regarding PZAB

Hi, a page I was creating (PZAB) was flagged by an ASCII art filter recently, and I have received a message from you containing a warning/information about self-promotion.
Just to clarify: I'm not trying in any way to self-promote, if what I wrote came across in that way please tell me what I could to to correct it. The article itself was written in an entirely informative manner; I am not making (or trying to make) any money from anything mentioned within my article.
I did link to a wiki page on another site. If that's not appropriate, please let me know.
Thanks for your message. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrDetonia (talkcontribs) 23:08, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You admit it's about a language you wrote youself, so you've got a blatant conflict of interest. You provided no substantive evidence that it is in any way notable enough to appear in an encyclopedia. Instead of reliable sources, you "sourced" the article to an entry in a wiki, which is pretty much the definition of an unreliable source. If this language is genuinely notable, somebody without your COI will write a neutral, properly-sourced article about it. In the meantime, forgive us if we have trouble distinguishing you writing about this programming language you created from mere self-promotion of something you made up in class one day. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:33, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

About "drive-by-tagging" at article.

Hello. I have already discussed with another user what the issues were with the tagging of that article. I merely forgot to open up a discussion. I may re-tag the article and open up a discussion, because while about 3/4 of the article seems good to me, there is still improvement that is needed. Thanks for notifying me about the particular edit.
