I have been advised by the Wiki establishment to explain about the new (October 2014) editing of the Gloria Stuart article. |
|||
I have done much if not most of it. ''I'' am Sylvia Vaughn Thompson, Gloria Stuart's daughter. |
|||
I wanted very much to correct the many errors in the previous version. And to lighten the tone. |
|||
I also wanted to add more to the acting part of her biography and more about Gloria Stuart the artist. |
|||
I have been faulted by the Wiki establishment for giving sources that readers cannot check on themselves. You know what? I would if I could. There aren't any that I know of. The main source about Gloria Stuart is Gloria Stuart herself in her memoir. And there are, naturally, a few things I added that came after her death. Those are elements that have not been in the media and thus cannot be accessed. |
|||
Also please excuse if the article is not encyclopedic enough. I welcome suggestions for improvement. Thanks and all best! [[User:Miramaribelle|Miramaribelle]] ([[User talk:Miramaribelle|talk]]) 23:49, 5 November 2014 (UTC) |

Is Gloria Stuart died? For the answer, please contact me at http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pembicaraan_Pengguna:Muhammad_Azmi 06:20, 4 November 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.161.142.215 (talk)
Hanson music video, "River"
Gloria Stuart is in Hanson's 1998 music video, "River", with Weird Al Yankovic. It is a Titanic spoof. She is a Hanson fan in it. In the Titanic film, remember the drawing Jack did of Rose, the Hanson video uses the same painting but with a "I love HANSON" tatoo on it. At the end of the video it has her throwing a Hanson CD into the sea, instead of the jewel like in Titanic. I can't really find an article on it, but if someone searches "Hanson - River" on YouTube and watch it you'll know what to enter on here. Its a good video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.209.151.203 (talk) 00:21, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
She played a 101-year-old, not 100

I watched the movie and if I remember correctly, she played a 100 year old who was a month away from turning 101. Longevitydude (talk) 18:23, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- This was discussed in the Titanic page - Talk:Titanic (1997 film)#Rose is One-Hundred. Jay (talk) 00:24, 1 October 2010 (UTC) I think it was a sign that she died, because in the movie Titanic she was 100, and she died in her sleep. In real life she died 100,in her sleep.
Major clean-up needed
Here we go again: a death is going to send several hundred thousand if not millions of people to this article and Wikipedia is going to look the worse for it when they see the gushy, fan-written style of it. There really should be a network of Wiki editors who can be alerted whenever something like this is noticed so they can do a quick polish. Some of us see these things during stolen moments at work, etc and don't have the time to help Wikipedia look better. RoyBatty42 (talk) 18:40, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- RoyBatty42: There's always going to be POV in bios. I cleaned up and watchlisted the article. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 15:29, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
- Nicely done, my first moment back during a busy week so good to find someone had the time and motivation to deal with it, thx RoyBatty42 (talk) 17:56, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Cancer
It's really amazing that after diagnosis at 95 with lung cancer, she was still around five years later in not such bad shape. In 2009 she reportedly attended Dolores Hope's 100th birthday celebration. A year later Stuart attended the James Cameron/Suzy Amis tribute for her own centennial, looking pretty good. Does anyone know if she was treated surgically and in remission? Anything is possible. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 15:29, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Her cause of death was respiratory failure resulting from lung cancer. (92.3.125.128 (talk) 17:38, 30 September 2010 (UTC))
Lung cancer
The article needs to mention that she died of lung cancer. (92.3.125.128 (talk) 19:55, 30 September 2010 (UTC)) NO IT DOSN'T
Death and Filmography
A couple of things: when in the movie Titanic did it ever mention that old Rose died of respiratory failure in her sleep? In fact, if I remember correctly, the director left it open to the audience whether or not Rose died at all. So why does it say in the Death section of Gloria Stuart's page that Rose Dawson died in the same way as Gloria Stuart?
Another minor thing...the filmography section of Gloria Stuart's page makes no mention of Titanic. I'm going to add that...just wanted to let you all know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.34.172.16 (talk) 17:16, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
