Wikipedia:HighBeam/Nav HighBeam Research is an online, subscription-based search engine for newspapers, magazines, academic journals, newswires, trade magazines and encyclopedias. The site has access to over 80 million articles from 6,500 publications, most of which are not available free elsewhere on the internet. Thousands of new articles are added daily, archives date back over 25 years including trade journal, newspaper articles, and peer-reviewed journals covering a wide range of subjects and industries; and there are tools for finding, saving, organizing, and sharing information as documents. Aside from a free seven-day trial (credit card required), access to HighBeam costs $30 per month or $200 per year for the first year and $300 for subsequent years.

As of March 13, 2012 HighBeam has generously agreed to give free, full-access one-year accounts for Wikipedia editors to use, at the discretion of the community. HighBeam is excited about this and does not expect there to be a shortage of these free, one-year accounts; however, editors will have to have a one-year-old account and 1000 edits in order to qualify for one. At the end of one year, editors who found the resource useful can simply re-apply.

Requirements

• You do not have free online access to these HighBeam products through your local library or university
• You have your preferences enabled to receive email messages on English Wikipedia; (see Special:Preferences)
• You have an account that is a minimum of 1 year old
• You have a minimum of 1000 edits to the encyclopedia
• You are active in content generation, research, and/or verification work

Expectations

Approved editors may

• Search, view, retrieve, and display portions of restricted content
• Electronically save portions of restricted content
• Print out single copies of portions of restricted content
• Comply with any terms and conditions which appear on the particular pages of the HighBeam website they are accessing

Approved editors will not

• Share their account logins or passwords with others
• Mass scrape or mass download HighBeam content
• Systematically make printed or electronic copies of multiple extracts of restricted content available for any purpose
• Datamine metadata without permission, in order, for instance, to use metadata for auto-created stub articles
• Use the access provided through the Pilot for any commercial purpose

Private and confidential information

• You will need to have a confirmed email address to participate. You understand and agree that your name and email address may be shared with representatives of the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikipedia Library, and HighBeam Research. While representatives of the Wikipedia Library are volunteers (not employees or contractors of the Wikimedia Foundation or HighBeam Research), they have signed confidentiality agreements with the Wikimedia Foundation with regards to the personal information they may handle for the Wikipedia Library.

Citation

• Editors should always provide original citation information, in addition to linking a HighBeam article, per WP:V and WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT
• Editors should not provide bare links to non-free HighBeam pages
• Editors should note "(subscription required)" in the citation, where appropriate

I need this account because I'm active in Did You Know project on fa.wiki (fa:ویکی‌پدیا:آیا می‌دانستید که...؟) and I always need to add references to articles (see my 2014 activity: fa:ویکی‌پدیا:آیا می‌دانستید که...؟/هفته‌های ۲۰۱۴ (میلادی)). I would much like High Beam to continue my work on NFL Players Articles, primarily Green Bay Packers related. 7. Maadikhah (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) My account was made on Saturday, January 15th in 2011 and I have 4293 edits (Wikipedia.FA's counting. ) or 4499 edits (here. Tool Lab's counting) at my home wiki (Fa.Wikipedia). I'm also a patroller at Farsi Wikipedia and I can use this access to save new low-quality articles which are about to get deleted. I think having this access helps me to improve my contributions a lot; both in starting new semi-good/good/featured articles or in expanding existing articles. Thanks a lot in advance. However, I never actually used the account before because the articles I found were covered by a different HighBeam service. 12. Gyrofrog (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I had (and used) Highbeam access (via Wikipedia) about 2 years ago, but it expired. I mainly edit within the purview of WP:JAZZ and WP:ETHIOPIA, but sometimes I'll try and attempt to verify an article in any subject area and a relevant source is in Highbeam. Would appreciate access to the data. I don't attend a University, and generally can't visit a public library during its operating hours (assuming they even have Highbeam access). I have been less active lately but so far have > 17,500 edits since joining in 2007. I am principally interested in content creation and looking to focus more in that area.
