Personal life
Jane Wilde grew up in St Albans and studied languages, and obtained a degree Ph.D. in Romance Languages. She married Stephen Hawking in 1965, who she had met through Stephen's sister. The couple had three children: Robert Hawking was born in 1967, Lucy Hawking 1970, and Tim in 1979. Jane and Stephen divorced in 1990. She supported him through his health problems for years as he continued to work.[2]
Five years later Jane married the family friend and musician Jonathan Jones. About her marriage to Stephen, she wrote an autobiography, Music to Move the Stars:. A Life with Stephen, which was published in 1999. [3] After the physicist has separated from his second wife, he and Jane have again increased contact. In 2008 a heavily updated edition of the biography under the title Travelling to Infinity - My Life with Stephen was published.[3]
