==No longer active==

I am no longer active on Wikipedia. I decided I couldn't handle the bureaucratic nonsense that accompanies nearly every edit made - the number of rules that an editor is required to know is unwieldy and quite frankly ridiculous. I have popped back a couple of times since "leaving", both as myself and as an anon, only to encounter nearly instant reverts and notes accusing me of being a sock, of using proxies (shock - lots of ISPs use NAT on mobile devices due to the limited number of IPv4 addresses. Second shock - I work in a school, which uses a proxy server which connects via a series of upstream proxy servers).

So, in summary - the attitude towards editors is now toxic and has driven me away from this site.

If things change in the future, I may return again, but until then, I will continue to do occasional edits to test the water. -[[User:Localzuk|Localzuk]][[User talk:Localzuk|(talk)]] 22:14, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Barnstar awarded by 9cds for working on keeping Wikipedia NPOV, managing wiki-vandals, and somehow keeping sane at the same time.
For your calm disposition on controversial pages, and for your ability and willingness to dig out good sources, it's my great privilege to award you the Original Barnstar. SlimVirgin (talk) 14:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Things that I have come to realise

  1. That it is not necessary to alter links to redirects in articles - shortly after going on a 'fixing' spree. You live and learn.
  2. That it is hard for some people, including myself occasionally, to read someone's comments/edits in good faith. It can be difficult to try and overcome this but it is important to do so.
  3. That revealing my age would be a negative thing. From what I have seen on various talk pages, there is a definate 'ageist' atmosphere that appears. This has manifested itself by people not respecting the knowledge of younger editors and also some referring to older editors, and more traditional methods of producing articles as being old timers... This does not seem conducive to a positive atmosphere so I have chosen to keep it unavailable and would ask anyone that the knows me to not add it either.
  4. Degrees are not the be-all and end-all of civilisation. They are just a set of initials to show that you have put up with 3 years or more of mostly nonsense.
  5. That working within the system can be the best way of doing things - violence doesn't get you anywhere. I believe that protest is being unduly cracked down upon, but the only way to combat this is to be peaceful. Terrorism is not the answer.-Localzuk(talk) 20:57, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
