Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}}. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to ''you'' in particular.<p>The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when [[Wikipedia:Spotting possible copyright violations|hallmarks of copyvios]] in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.<p>If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied ''from the draft'', rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the [https://archive.org/web/ Wayback Machine] is very useful for sussing that out.)<p>If you do find a copyright violation, please ''do not'' decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using <nowiki>{{db-g12|url=</nowiki><tt>URL of source</tt>}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with <nowiki>{{subst:copyvio|url=</nowiki><tt>URL of source</tt>}}.<p>Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with [[WP:WEASEL|weasel words]]; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.<p> I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--[[User:Fuhghettaboutit|Fuhghettaboutit]] ([[User talk:Fuhghettaboutit#top|talk]]) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).<p> Sent via--[[User:MediaWiki message delivery|MediaWiki message delivery]] ([[User talk:MediaWiki message delivery|talk]]) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC) |

Rinkle, this was a little trigger-happy. Even if you disagreed with the change, the link was relevant to topic and the IP's edit summary shows as much. We shouldn't issue warnings for good-faith, constructive editing. Haploidavey (talk) 17:50, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
- You're right, sorry. I incorrectly thought that the IP editor had performed vandalism by equating Proto-Indo-European religion with the act of horse sacrifice. Had I looked more closely I would have seen that this was a constructive edit and not vandalism. Thanks for noticing my mistake, I'll be more careful next time. Rinkle gorge (talk) 18:16, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
- No worries; everyone makes the odd mistake, and this one's all done and dusted. Best regards, Haploidavey (talk) 18:32, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Welcome to adoption
Hi! You are now enrolled at my adoption school. Your official 'adoption page' is located at User:Pol430/Adoption/Rinkle gorge.
My adoption school works in a similar way to a conventional education course. Your adoption page is the Wikipedia equivalent of your exercise book. I will set you a series of assignments—there are 7 in total. The assignments will start with a list of material to read through; once you have read this, I will post a number of questions for you to answer, on the subject(s) you have just read about. I will review your answers and provide you with feedback. When you have answered all the questions and any followup questions, you will receive a grade for that assignment. Your assignments will be graded, with a grade from A* to C. If you do not complete an assignment to a satisfactory standard, you will be asked to re-sit that assignment. In your first assignment (which I have already assigned to you) you will learn about The Five Pillars of Wikipedia.
Once you have completed all the assignments satisfactorily, I will set you a final examination. Once you pass your final exam, you will receive your graduation certificate. Depending on your grades throughout the school, you may graduate with one of three honors! See the adoption school main page for more info.
Please leave me a message on my talk page if you have any questions. Pol430 talk to me 14:51, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Pol430 talk to me 17:39, 11 May 2012 (UTC) Hi George, I Don't know how this works.
Anyways, the game creator is a fake, with a fake, unregistered company, and with no plans on ever creating the game posted. Since the page is fake, I believe it should be taken down completely. For proof, please see press release articles indicating the game will come out this month, yet there is not a single photo of any game development. To reference properly, DreamPark Tycoon.

Your rollback request
Hi Rinkle gorge, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, then don't use rollback and instead use a manual edit summary. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 22:33, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is invited to contribute, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Francis Bacon, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. In answer to your question...
As I've archived the last assignment, I thought I'd respond here. When I say not too liberally, I mean the the CSD criteria are worded quite specifically and are narrowly construed. It's difficult to put into words, but good editorial judgement is required in interpreting the CSD criteria. Don't worry about it too much, just refer to the CSD policy or ask me (or someone else) if in doubt. Multiple criteria are fine. You can use multiple CSD criteria if more than one criteria applies -- in fact, Twinkle has a CSD multiple option which makes multiple tagging easier! Congratulations on your rollback rights, how are you finding Huggle? :-) Pol430 talk to me 20:30, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, I think that clarifies my CSD question pretty well. I'm trying to phrase my understanding in a way that demonstrates my understanding, but like you said, it's difficult to put into words. My first impressions of Huggle are that it saves me an incredible amount of time and provides excellent options for communicating with editors that I have used rollback on. I have found myself cross-editing with Huggle running and Wikipedia open in a browser, especially for checking actions I've made in Huggle. I've also started using Twinkle, so I've got a lot to learn. If all goes well, I'll be leaving a talkback for you after posting this message. Rinkle gorge (talk) 20:44, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Great stuff, talkback received! For the record, I wasn't criticizing you understanding of CSD, you nailed your last assignment (apart from a couple of tiny slips) I just wanted to labor the point that the criteria are very specific -- often frustratingly so! Huggle is good tool, I still fire it up occasionally, when the vandalism alarm goes off! I'm glad you've found Twinkle, it will come in handy during the next couple of assignments. Assignment 5 is ready whenever you are by the way. Enjoy! Pol430 talk to me 20:56, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Of course! I'd never take any of your comments as negative criticism. I appreciate that you're bolstering the specific nature of CSD. I'll get started on the next assignment whenever I can pull myself away from recent changes. Rinkle gorge (talk) 21:00, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Mentors
Hi, have you heard anything about Pol430? Did they ever come back from being out of the Country? He was my mentor and we were still working on my assignments."Selene Scott (talk) 10:43, 20 August 2012 (UTC)"
- Hello Selene Scott! You know, when Pol430 told me (he/she?) they were leaving for a month, I decided to take a break from Wikipedia. I had been getting rather addicted to Huggle for a while. It's been almost three months since our mentor left. It's strange, they made a couple of edits on the 5th and 6th of August, but other than that they're pretty gone. I'm glad that you've moved on to a new mentor, and I really like the formatting on your user page, looks great! Let's try to collaborate on a Wikipedia project sometime -- it would be fun to work in tandem with someone for a while. Rinkle gorge (talk) 07:59, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I would love to do that with you. Thanks for the barnstar. I noticed you did very well on all of the assignments, and an A on copywrite!, wow, I didn't do well at all on that one and in fact still don't really know what to do when it comes to that part of it. I haven't really found another mentor. When I started out I had two, but Pol was the only one who worked with me. Then after he/she disappeared I tried to work with the other on my user page. They just did it for me instead of teaching me how so that was a bit disappointing. Anyway, let me know what you'd like to try doing. I'm pretty much open to anything. "Selene Scott (talk) 14:51, 27 September 2012 (UTC)"
- Yeah, I got rather nerdy about studying for those tests, and I was sorely disappointed when I realized I wouldn't be finishing up with Pol. Although, who knows, they might come back some day. I can imagine that after being active on Wikipedia for so long it would be nice to up and leave on an extended break. In terms of working together on a project, I think it would be fun to choose an article to improve, maybe from C to B class? I don't know how hard that is because I've never tried it, but I'd like to give it a shot, and with two people we might make quicker work of it. I'd prefer something outside of my usual areas of interest, mostly to learn something new but also to maximize neutrality. I'll think about it. Do you have any suggestions? Rinkle gorge (talk) 23:08, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello you two! I'm back (sort of)! Rinkle, I hope you don't mind me addressing both of you on your talk page? I'm so sorry I had to abandon you both like that, but my life tends to turn in six month circles. I can have plenty of time on my hands for six months, and then have to shoot off at short notice for long periods of isolation... Anyway, I'm about at the moment and have looked in on both your progress. I am extremely pleased that both of you have continued working on Wikipedia in my absence and rightly proud of what you have achieved. Rinkle, I see that you have continued to develop your skills, and you were at the end of your adoption course anyway, so I have chosen to 'graduate' you (somewhat belatedly) from the program. Naturally, I will be on-hand if you ever want my help or advice. P.S. Thank you for the kind words on your userpage! Selene, if you're still around and would like to finnish off your adoption program then I'm happy to do so? Pol430 talk to me 18:30, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Re: Emilio Lombardi
Hi Rinkle gorge I am Salvino Lombardi from Malta and I am the grandson of Emilio Lombardi a prolific writer of the 20th century. I was disappointed when I got your message that the page of Emilio Lombardi was removed because I tried to edit it. As I said I am the grandson of Emilio Lombardi and know him well because I made a research on his writing among which are 88 novels in Maltese. Nobody else can tell you more about this writer. There currently is a website about this writer and his books which you can find at www.emiliolombardi.com. The site is currently erxperiencing some problems which will be fixed in due course.
Please find an article about Emilio Lombardi below:
Who was Emilio Lombardi?
Emilio Lombardi was a prolific writer of Novels (Rumanzi) in Maltese in the early 20th century He was born in Alexandria (Egypt) on 14th January 1881. His father was Giovanni Lombardi and his mother Giuseppina Weiss. He was brought to Malta when he was ten years old. Since he was young he had a great love for the printing trade and employed himself with a printer, whose name was Karmnu Mifsud in Saint Ursola Street, Valletta. He was so much attracted to his trade that he had in mind to have his own printing press and by the age of nineteen he rented a room and started printing his own book himself. On 21st October, 1901, at the age of twenty, he married Fortunata Galea, born in Valletta, who was a very active woman and supported her husband by giving a helping hand in the printing trade. Once married he lived in St. Trophimus Street, Sliema. where he had nine children, seven boys and two girls. After finishing their secondary education some of his children helped him in his work. Emilio, often known as Mielju, had his first printing press called ‘Tipografia Nazionale’ at 1, Lion Street, Floriana as could be seen from three of his books he printed there, which were printed in the year 1902. But his love for his native village could not stop him from moving to Sliema. There he rented a room, in The Strand, and moved lock, stock and barrel to his new destination. Here he started calling his press as ‘Lombardi’s Press’ as is still known up to this day, although it is no more in the same place. Because, after about eight years, in 1912 he moved further to the centre of Sliema and established his press in St Trophimus Street, close to were he lived. Here he printed most of his books. Those interested to know more about Emilio Lombardi should surf his website www.emiliolombardi.com
I have to add that I revised and published 36 of his novels which I would like to put on his page on Wikipedia. I can also send you photographic evidence of his books, if this is required
I would be very grateful if you guide what to do achive my goal.

- Hi Salvino. I apologize that I was unable to respond to your message when you left it in October. I appreciate that you are passionate about creating a record of your grandfather's accomplishments on Wikipedia. However, Emilio Lombardi is required to meet certain notability guidelines if there is to be an article about him in the encyclopedia. You can view some of these requirements at WP:AUTHOR. During my review of the now deleted article it did not seem that Emilio Lombardi met the necessary requirements. Does your grandfather seem to meet any of the criteria listed at WP:AUTHOR? If so, I'd be happy to help in creating a new draft of your article as I think you'll need it. Rinkle gorge (talk) 20:33, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your message, I noticed you removed my rebuttal to felony reference on your page which is a lie. I would appreciate if the rebuttal is put or the references lie be removed. The fact is Steve has NEVER been charged with a felony. What they refer to took place 40 years ago when he was pulled over for misdemeanor traffic violations as a teenager. The record was expunged, and disclosing expunged records is a crime. Cornyn's super PAC may now face criminal charges for that and Cornyn himself may be deposed in that case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1houstonian (talk • contribs) 23:02, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Indix submission
Hello Rinkle. I just submitted an article to AfC that I was hoping you would consider reviewing it for me. I don't want to jump to the front of the line but it would be great if you can provide some feedback at the very least. The backlog is massive and I think my article stands a chance at meeting notability. I've seen some of your contributions and AfC reviews and think you are well suited for this area. I'm open to any criticism. See: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Indix Thanks in advance for your efforts! A Frog Prince (talk) 23:09, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. Just saw your note. I don't have much time on my hands atm, so I'll make it quick and will potentially have more comments for you later in the week. I may also directly edit the article. Your referencing is really solid, good work. The overall tone is acceptable, though you should focus on a more encyclopedic style. You are correct in that the notability is there, and all of your information seems well-supported by the sources provided. Yeah, generally, try to sound more encyclopedic. I know it's difficult with some of the sources like TechCrunch and Geekwire, which typically write very favorably about startups. Try not to let the media spin influence your writing. Read everything at WP:Writing better articles and give the article another pass to see what you pick up. If you don't, someone will! Rinkle gorge (talk) 23:26, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Did you mean to blank the page with that edit summary?— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 22:36, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
- Nope, that's quite odd. I was trying to revert the vandalism, which you apparently reverted 4 seconds before me. I have no idea how a simple rollback could result in blanking the page. Thanks for the heads up. Rinkle gorge (talk) 22:40, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

The Vinyl Factory
Hi there, I wondered if you might have used an earlier version as a guide to rejecting The Vinyl Factory submission? I removed the puffed up advertising just prior to your rejection of it. Is it still looking like an advert? I'm wondering whether it's worth tidying up the citations or not. (Oh I think I might have found it - the long list of acts on the label?) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/The_Vinyl_Factory Thank you - Angela MacLean (talk) 16:52, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Angela. I've re-reviewed your article, and after making a few minor edits, have moved it to the main article space. The organization seems to meet notability guidelines, and despite the somewhat advertorial nature of an unsupported roster, I think the article is worth including in the encyclopedia. Rinkle gorge (talk) 17:11, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi there, thank you for the re-think on this borderline entry. I'll get the citations tidied in the next couple of days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Angela MacLean (talk • contribs) 17:20, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I see that you've blanked the page, apparently with the edit summary of undoing an edit, but you've blanked the entire page in the process. I've restored the article for now. If this was done purposely, please let me know. Thanks. KJ «Click Here» 22:08, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello Again
Hey there, its Selene Scott. I've been away for about two years but I was wondering if you still wanted to do some editing together??(Pol was both of our teachers) Selene Scott (talk) 07:58, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Selene ScottSelene Scott (talk) 07:58, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hey Selene – welcome back! If you don't mind me asking, what have you been up to for the last two years? Hopefully something more exciting than a day job but less exciting than prison. What sort of editing do you have in mind. I've been on a wiki break for a while but could use a cooperative project to get back in the swing. Rinkle gorge (talk) 19:44, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I went back to work at a taxi company, a real dead end drag of a place, I've worked there two times before, I worked PM's and Grave's so it was like having a night job in prison, having to police and cajole a crew of deadbeat guys in taxi cabs! I was let go last October after the owner grabbed my boobs!! I've got a case pending. So anyway, I finally found a way back into my account; I had forgotten my password and the password to the recovery email.....So here I am and I'm realizing that most everything I learned I forgot or never really learned to begin with so, I thought working with you and your guidance I might actually learn how to do things around here. So, why don't you pick our project cause I'm really easy going about tasks and subjects. I think I learn by doing so this would be great fun. I'll start being diligent about checking in here so you don't have to wait 38 day's to get a response out of me!! Let Me Know! "Selene Scott (talk) 05:02, 28 September 2014 (UTC)"

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Rinkle gorge. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).
