The 40th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is a part of the annual film festival in Metro Manila, Philippines that will be held from December 25, 2014 until the first week of January, 2015. During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters in order to showcase locally produced films. This year, there were early registration started on the MMFF Appreciation Dinner on March 2, 2014 and will end on June 15, 2014.
Entries
In June, it was announced that 13 film entries were submitted to the Film Festival for consideration.[1] A few days after, the MMDA board chairman Francis Tolentino announced the official eight entries on June 21. The films include Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2, Bonifacio, Magnum Muslim .357, Praybeyt Benjamin 2, Feng Shui 2, My Big Bossing's Adventures, Shake Rattle & Roll 15, and English Only, Please.[2][3]
However, if ever one or more of the official entries back out, two standby entries are picked:[4]
- Kid Kulafu (Ten17 Productions) - starring Cesar Montano and Alessandra de Rossi, and directed by Paul Soriano
- Kung ang Hanap mo ay Ligaya sa Buhay (T-Rex Ent) - starring Boots Anson-Roa and Ronnie Liang, and directed by Elwood Perez.
Meanwhile, submitted, but not chosen, entries include:
- Above the Clouds (ATC Motion Pictures) - starring Ruru Madrid and Pepe Smith, directed by Pepe Diokno
- Bonggangster (Double Tap Films) - starring BB Gandanghari, directed by Val Iglesias
- Whistle-blower (Quento Media, Deus Lux Mea) - starring Nora Aunor, Cherry Pie Picache and Angelica Panganiban, directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr.
