Arachidic acid also called eicosanoic acid is a saturated fatty acid found in peanut oil. It can be formed by the hydrogenation of arachidonic acid. It is practically insoluble in water and stable under ordinary conditions
Reduction of arachidic acid yields arachidyl alcohol.
