Its awfulness is significant...
You'll notice that if you Google Tom Goes to the Mayor, the sites with the most hits are either sites about the show from the creators or from [adlt swim], or they are hate sites. I'm sure there are people who like this show, but there's a hundred people who know it is awful, for each one who thinks its brilliant. Just ignore it, it will go away
- It's satire, and the quirky way it's made is something you do have to get used to. Take it as what it is, it's no fantasia. If you've ever lived in a small town, there's bound to be something there you find humorous. It's definitely not for everybody. --Hrodulf 19:23, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

IMO, this show is bad... Will 06:53, 4 January 2005 (UTC)
- I think it's pretty bad too, and it took me a while to get it, but it is an allegory: Tom represents Tim and Eric, the two people who make the show. "The Mayor" represents everyone at Adult Swim who can apparently get suckered into going along with any idea. The City Council represents the viewers of adult swim, who aren't usually fans of Tom's ideas, especially the way in which the Mayor runs with them and screws them up. So, Tom comes up with bad ideas, and then convinces the Mayor to waste the city's money on them, all the while the people who the Mayor should be listening to complain without being heard. - ...Wow. I certainly hope that isn't it, but it sounds like it hits the nail on the head. --Andy Janata 04:53, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
- So...a wiki page devoted to TGTTM is now a mini-forum for why people hate the show. In the name of good-natured discourse, I would pose some questions. First, did you folks come to the page just to justify your hatred? Something akin to an evangelical looking up pornography just to make sure that it's repulsive and sinful? Second, did you know there's a web-site just for you? If you'd bothered to read the article, you'd have seen that there's an on-line petition calling for the cancellation of the show. Why not go there and sign it? Then you can see the true caliber of the average "Tom-hater", who express their dislike eloquently, using broken e-jargon, non-existant grammar, and excessive profanity. Why not add your allegorical analysis to the intellectual stew? And finally, as to your allegory (which is clever, by the way) I'm sure Tim and Eric first thought of that when they were trying to develop a show - who wouldn't want to make a television show that people would so openly revile? I can easily see them saying, "let's make this as unfunny as possible, so fans of fine comedy such as Sealab 2021 or Harvey Birdman will turn up their noses in disgust!" Totally plausible.
- But enough questions. Here's a suggestion - why not further deconstruct an 11-minute cartoon based on absurdism? Perhaps something about Tom's strained relation with his wife symbolizing the state of marriage in American culture? Better yet, write a 15-page essay on the symbolism of Tom Goes to the Mayor. Have it on my desk by Friday - no extentions! -- Thesmokingmonkey 11:11, 11JUL05 (UTC)

Tom's postcards
On several episodes, Tom sends postcards to Joy which include him posing in apparently sexual positions. --24.1.63.132 04:44, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Why Tom Goes to the Mayor rules
Its funny --65.185.108.175 00:59, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
- Most people who did like this show are like the invisible man that commented before me here apparently. I'm just surprised he didn't say "Its teh funny", ala many of the people on the AS boards.
- Tom had some potential, but it always came off awkward, and I think the world is better off that it's gone now. Karmafist 18:27, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
- It's not canceled you stupid >: --69.252.200.224 08:24, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Neutral?
People who don't like Tom: "The basic criticism made by those who dislike the show is that it is poorly written and animated, thus making it cost very little to produce; as a result, Adult Swim saves money with it, so AS promotes the show with zeal, often giving it preferable timeslots that fan-favorite shows used to have."
People who do like Tom:"This is the essence of Tom Goes to the Mayor - the complete haplessness of Tom and his travails as a hyper-tragic figure against an absurdist backdrop."
This article definately needs cleanup.BenvolioZF 05:08, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- And this condescending gem: "It is worth noting that most of the people who don't like the show are of below-average intelligence and simply don't "get" it's humor." --anon
It's okay...
I haven't seen but a few episodes. What was the name of the one with the crab claws and the "ric a tick tock tick tock tock" song? That one was hilarious. VincentGross 06:05, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Tom's Car
When I went to Poland in the summer of 2004 I loved the little car called the maluch. They're all over the place since they cost almost nothing to own and get about 52mpg. They're also basically unchanged since the 1960s. They're tiny, and they sound like lawnmowers. When I first saw Tom's car I laughed so hard since that's what he drives! Awesome.
