The Bangabandhu Cup or Bangabandhu Gold Cup is an international association football tournament organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation as a tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was launched in 1996, but only two editions have thus far been played. The BFF had been looking to re-launch the tournament since 2009.It was finally given the go ahead in 2014 to be played in early 2015 with six nations participating.[1] It was finally given the go ahead in 2014 to be played in early 2015 with six nations participating.[2] Just days prior to the start of the tournament, the BFF confirmed all six participants.[3]

Format

In group stage six teams divided into two groups of three teams. Each group was a round-robin of three games, where each team played one match against each of the other teams in the same group. Teams were awarded three points for a win, one point for a draw and none for a defeat. The teams finishing first and second in each group qualified for the Semi-finals.
