Mike Tyson Mysteries is an American animated television series produced by Warner Bros. Animation for Adult Swim. It premiered October 27, 2014.[1] The series features Mike Tyson solving mysteries, in the style of Scooby-Doo!, Jonny Quest and Mr. T.[2] The show is also currently simulcasting on Netflix Canada.[3]
On December 10, 2014, Adult Swim renewed Mike Tyson Mysteries for a second season.[4]
Premise
The show follows Mike Tyson, the ghost of the Marquess of Queensberry, Tyson's adopted daughter, and a pigeon as they solve mysteries. The style of the show borrows heavily from 1960's cartoons, most notably Hanna-Barbera productions such as Scooby Doo and The Funky Phantom.
Characters
- Mike Tyson (voiced by himself) – The title character of the series, Mike Tyson is a retired boxer who raises carrier pigeons to receive messages of mysteries to solve. He is portrayed as slightly airheaded. He confuses Grand Wizard with Grandmaster and Elon Musk with Elton John. He has a reputation of doing unusual things like taking an oatmeal bath with cooked oatmeal, owning a pet grizzly bear and using mosquitoes to help him sleep.
- Pigeon (voiced by Norm Macdonald) – A drunk, sarcastic pigeon. He claims to be a former human who was turned into a pigeon by his ex-wife as a curse for cheating on her. His real name is Richard.
- Yung Hee Tyson (voiced by Rachel Ramras) – Mike's 18-year-old adopted daughter. Her birth mother dropped her off at Mike's doorstep when she was a baby. He is not too well aware of Yung. He has mispronounced her name and thought she gave him intellectual advice when she was in infancy.
- Marquess of Queensberry (voiced by Jim Rash) – The neurotic ghost of John Douglas, 9th Marquess of Queensberry (but with an American English accent), he provides intellectual advice to Mike.
