Mariyam Mukku (Malayalam: മറിയം മുക്ക് ) is a 2015 Malayalam comical romantic film written and directed by James Albert.[1] It is the directorial debut of James, who has earlier known for scripting popular Malayalam films. The film produced by A. K Sabeer under Sam Big Movies is distributed by LJ Films and stars Fahadh Faasil, Sana Althaf in lead and Manoj K. Jayan, Thyagarajan, Prathap Pothan, Joy Mathew in other important roles. It is a love story between a fisherman Felix (Fahadh Faasil) and Salomi (Sana Althaf). Both live in Mariyam Mukku, a coastal area that has a peculiar Latin American culture.[2] The movie was shot at Thankassery beach in Kollamor Quilon. The film released on January 23, 2015.

Cast

Production

The filming started on October, 2014 has its locations at Thankassery, Vizhinjam and Kapil.[3] Planned to complete in two schedules, and to release by 23 January, 2015.[4] It was earlier reported that Hima Davis would play the female lead. However, later confirmed that Sana has replaced Hima in the film. She was earlier seen in Vikramadithyan.[5]

A teaser was released by LJ films on December 21, 2014,[6] following a second teaser released on January 6, 2015.[7]

Music

Untitled

The movie features four tracks composed by Vidyasagar. He had composed a different kind of music while retaining his trademark style of melody. All the songs got fine appreciation from critics. Ee Kadalinu Kolu, the melodious track brings the feel of rain, storm, sea and love – all blending together indicating the blossoming of love between the lovers in a monsoon. Kavil, with a Latin-American flavour, it is composed as a folk song recounting about how Portuguese had come and gone. Swargam Thurannu, with its divine feel, it's a Christmas night carol song. Mekkarayil, there is a change happening in the seashore. As the waves come and go, this song even though a fast paced, gives the feel of each line coming and going.[8]
