Sonwar Bagh is an area in srinagar , Jammu_and_kashmir which comes under Badami_Bagh Cantonment. It is a residential area in srinagar . Many schools, hotels, restaurants are established here. The main pincodes of this area include 190001 and 190004. It is a home to many politicians like the ex-chief minister Omar_Abdullah[1] who became the 11th and the youngest chief minister of the Indian Administered state Jammu_and_Kashmir and also lost the 2014 sonwar assembly constituency in Srinagar . Sonwar Bagh was one of the worst affected areas from the 2014_India–Pakistan_floods in Jammu_and_Kashmir . It is surrounded by Sulaiman Hill on top of which is Shankracharya Temple.

Location

Latitude of Sonwar Bagh is 34°04'16.56N and Longitude of the area is 74°50'38.27E approximately. It lies parallel to the Jhelum_river and National Highway road near Sonwar Bazaar(market). It is about 3-5 km far way from Lal_Chowk which is the commercial hub of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Languages

The official language of this area is Urdu. English, Hindi and Kashmiri languages are also spoken.
