Hi, I wanted to create a page on Wikipedia about Oxford Biodynamics. It is not meant to be advertising, but a source of information about the Company type of page. I'm not sure where I went wrong as it is my first ever attempt of creating a Wiki page. I would really appreciate your help. |

07:03:55, 4 March 2015 review of submission by AEHGriffy
AEHGriffy (talk) 07:03, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
I still have questions....the article was redirected, with this response: @AEHGriffy: This draft was about a PreK-8 school in McCleary, Washington called "McCleary School District", which is quite a confusing name really. Unfortunately, Wikipedia typically deletes or redirects articles about educational establishments below high-school/secondary education level per WP:OUTCOMES. In view of this, I have created a redirect at the title McCleary School District and redirected the draft page to the same target. Bellerophon talk to me 21:00, 2 March 2015 (UTC)"
However, the school is a one building school district. I know that there are other K-8 school districts with Wikipedia pages. Here is one example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffin_School_District
I would prefer to fix the article and have our own page, rather than the re-direct to the City page. Thank you!

- To editor Sumethg: In the vast majority of cases, we do not accept material from LinkedIn or similar social networking sites. This is because Wikipedia requires independent, reliable sources of information; these are things like newspapers, magazines, and books (unconnected to him). If he has not been discussed in those sources, then he cannot have a page on Wikipedia. Anon124 (+2) (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 20:51, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello, the page I was submitting for Intoximeters got denied, so I just want to know what specific areas I should adjust to make it acceptable. Thanks!
Trippcocreative (talk) 15:55, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Trippcocreative. Have you read the decline reason given in the pink box at the top of the Draft, and also clicked on the links in the decline reason? What needs improvement is providing high quality references in order to meet Wikipedia:VRS. Patent registrations are not useful in proving notability, one of the links you give gives a 404 not found error, and a number of the others are either limited local coverage or do not even mention the company. 16:57:49, 4 March 2015 review of submission by SusanG17
I have submitted my article twice (Sports-based youth development) with no success and a lot of confusion as to why. After the first edit, I removed as much transitioning/essay-like language as I could. I'm hoping for some guidance on what is a "peacock" term (specifically in my article) and how to make it more encyclopedic. The advice keeps suggesting I use independent or even secondary (as opposed to primary??) sources - there are many independent high-quality sources used in the article and correctly cited. I mentioned existing negative evidence and the benefits of sports but there isn't much evidence about the negatives of SBYD because the topic is generally one that isn't terribly controversial so not a lot of negative evidence is published. Would taking out some of the research about the benefits of sports help the article sound more neutral? What else can I do to make this more neutral? Thanks.
SusanG17 (talk) 16:57, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi SusanG17 The referencing is rather thin, there are even entire paragraphs that have no cites at all. The word "should" is a major red flag for neutrality, it appears rather often in the draft. Wikipedia articles only describe, they are not allowed to prescribe or promote. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:36, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
21:36:55, 4 March 2015 review of submission by Scrape666
My article keeps getting rejected owing to the references. The problem is that the only sources available are the sources I listed. My article relies on local metal websites announcing meet and greet dates. If I cite each individual posting for each date I will end up citing about 100 or more postings on a few different websites. What should I do? Scrape666 (talk) 21:36, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
- Scrape666, you need to find in-depth sources, like news or magazine articles about the store. Meet-and-greet dates are not appropriate anyway (referenced or not): Wikipedia is not a directory or program guide. Anon124 (+2) (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 17:53, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

- @203.111.224.56: This is the help desk for help with the Articles for Creation process. General questions like that should be directed to the Reference desk (but no, an equilateral triangle has three 60° angles, while a right triangle needs to have one 90° angle). --Ahecht (TALK

This is my second attempt at submitting a listing for Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort and Spa. After the first attempt was denied, I re-wrote the article and included many more references and citing's and it was still denied. I am unsure as to what I am doing wrong or what I need to do to get this approved.
Dlassatcend (talk) 15:54, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Dlassatcend - you can ask the specific reviewer on their page. But looking at the last decline, SoCalSuperEagle was pretty specific. References need to talk about the article's subject in-depth, they cannot merely mention the subject. And they can't be related to the subject, either (e.g. from the hotel's site, a press release, etc.) Many of your references aren't references at all. For example, The Conde, Knot, TravelAdvisor, Tall Ships links don't mention the subject at all. I hope this helps. Onel5969 (talk) 17:57, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

- To editor PIXO, Inc. Content Gaming: You can read the cheatsheet for basic formatting. To answer your second question: No, the website cannot be the only source. Request on 19:01:26, 5 March 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Ascensusinc
Hello,
I am very new to the Wikipedia world and trying to contribute an article on behalf of my company, Ascensus, Inc. We are not seeking to use the article as any form of advertisement, but rather are hoping that it merely describes our company background, lines of business, the services we provide, and our culture.
A majority of this information is found on Ascensus related sites and is not directly referenced in external news sources. Therefore, I am having trouble with my citations and am trying to learn how I might include this information in an approved article. Any suggestions?
I would also appreciate an experienced editor's assistance in rewriting the article in a neutral, purely informative tone. I feel that I am too close to the content in order to do so completely effectively.
I'd appreciate any help I can get! Thank you in advance.

- Wikipedia is not a directory of businesses, so unfortunately, if external sources have not discussed the company in detail, then perhaps it is simply not notable enough for Wikipedia to need an article about it. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:42, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

13:39:50, 6 March 2015 review of submission by Dredmorbius
I created a basic bibliographic page for NPR's current CEO, head of a major news organization of note and with some recent turmoil having had eight CEOs in eight years. Inspiration was looking at his [ current interview] on Diane Rehm's show and realizing that he had no Wikipedia entry.
The article is brief, but I'll submit that Mohn meets the requirements for notability. I've also sourced data from both NPR (a news organization itself) and The New York Times. Otherwise:
- NPR has a Wikipedia entry, and Jarl Mohn was previously listed on the page as a red link.
- Numerous other NPR presidents CEOs have entries: Donald Quayle, Frank Mankiewicz, Delano Lewis, Kevin Klose, Ken Stern, Paul G. Haaga, Jr. (as acting CEO, and Vivian Schiller. The position itself is notable.
- As well as many NPR staff: Rehm, mentioned above, Robert Siegel, Audie Cornish, [Melissa Block]], Arun Rath, Steve Inskeep, Renée Montagne, Scott Simon, Rachel Martin, Guy Raz, Michel Martin, Bob Boilen, Nancy Wilson, Glynn Washington, Fiona Ritchie, Peter Sagal .... and many others. Those who work for NPR are generally notable -- those who lead NPR are inherently notable.
- NPR bigraphies are cited on Shiller's, Klose's, and Haaga's entries.
- A DDG search on "'Jarl Mohn' NPR CEO" turns up in the first 21 results stories at NPR (2), Huffington Post, The Washington Post, Poynter Institute, [WFYI, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Crunchbase, Variety Magazine, Hollywood Reporter, Here and Now (an NPR program), The New York Times, On the Media (a Public Radio International program distributed on NPR), the Benton Foundation, USA Today, KCUR, Philanthropy.com, and Current. Among many, many others. The assignment of Mohn is itself notable as shown in the journalistic record. That satisfies the Wikipedia:Notability requirement: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."
I'll allow that the article is a stub, though that was my intent: create a basic starting point for more information. It does cite multiple sources. It cites sources included in numerous other similar articles of persons holding the same position previously. It cites independent sources.
I'll add additional citation(s) to the article.
Again: I'd turned to Wikipedia for information on Mohn and was surprised it wasn't present. So I fixed the problem.
Dredmorbius (talk) 13:39, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- Accepted, congratulations. The sources you added after the previous review - newspapers such as LA Times, Washington Post, etc are exactly what it needed. BTW there is absolutely nothing at all wrong with creating stub articles, you do not need to be defensive about that. If you can find some more biographical detail such as where and when he was born, more detail about his education, where does he live, is he married, etc. that would fill it out and upgrade it from stub. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:01, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! I realize part of this is probably just the templated responses and such. "Subject is notably but another non-NPR source would help" is the sort of hint that would have helped. I figured I'd just slather on more until the next reviewer got sick of 'em (and notice you knocked a couple off the final product). All's good.
- The additional information is actually some of what I hoped to elicit in creating the article. Watching him talk in the Diane Rehm clips made me curious as to just who he was and what makes him tick. Not a whole lot of biographical data that I've found but I'll keep an eye out.
- That's the first time I've used the full citation format, it's actually kind of slick (in output), though cumbersome to write. is there some sort of bot support for standardizing references to that format? Dredmorbius (talk) 19:23, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Dredmorbius: I assume you already know about the RefToolbar, but if not it can help fill in references. There's also reFill and Reflinks that can automatically fill in some info from a bare URL. --Ahecht (TALK

Dear Wikipedia Advances Users,
sorry in case its an easy question but I am totally new to this topic. I have tried to creat this page (XTR HUMAN) and it was declined. Is there anything against the Wikipedia Policies? It is a site for my band but only relevant informations and it is not in a promotional way I think.
would be great to get a feedback how it can be changed respecting the guidelines.

I have edited my submission, but when I do a preview it doesn't show all of the content I have entered. The preview, and the preview on the saved and submitted page, only shows the first paragraph of the entire article. I'm not sure if this is a glitch and the entire article submission was received, or if there is a glitch and for some reason the entire article was not submitted. I've included what I've submitted as the edits below:

I have a question because my editor states the article lacks notable resources, but all are wither original company web site links or renowned information source links (such as fox news and yahoo finance). I am posting for the registry, the owner of the .rest and .bar domains, matter of the subject of the article. The information I am using to cite is even present on the press information that Punto 2012 and the .rest website show as back-up and credit for what it stands for. ¿Does it have to do witht he fact that .rest was launched less than a year ago? Here are all the links I am using as reference:

- @187.163.74.215: Generally, you need multiple citations to significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article to show notability. The businesswire and yahoo finance links are to press releases, which are not considered independent. The Fox News article is a good start, but you would need a few more similar references before your article would be accepted. --Ahecht (TALK

Hi,
I am the subject's grandson. He passed away when I was very young. For this content I have primarily sourced newspaper articles I have in print but as far as I know do not to exist online. I do reference these sources.
I am new at this. I did remove peacock language I could identify. Would you be able to point out examples where you would like me to address the tone? He was a pioneer in fine arts materials and did invent categories of products. That is factual, not intended to be promotional.
Appreciate any more specific guidance you can offer.
Sincerely, Eric Weber
- Newspaper articles are suitable. In a reference we need the name of the news paper, the date it was published, the page, the headline title, and author if you know it. Many newspapers are being scanned, digitised and appearing online. So if you have lost the page number or issue ( by having just a cutting) then there is still a chance the source can be found. - If you are talking about User:Richardribuffo/The Magic of Richard Ribuffo, you need more substantial, reliable independent references. These do not include blogs, as they are counted as unreliable. Books. magazines, TV and radio shows can also be suitable. IMDB, facebook, twitter and youtube are all counted as unreliable, and probably not independent either. - Hello, 202.142.103.173. Please don't copy text published into Wikipedia. We can see it if you link to it like this: "About Us, THE ELECTRONIC MONSTERZZ PRODUCTIONS" Unfortunately, that's not an independent source, but a piece of advertising copy that is posted on several other sites, and is suitable for fan page, not an encyclopedia. News reports, magazine articles, reviews, etc. are what you need instead. —Anne Delong (talk) 10:38, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

Dear everyone!
I need help. I don't know why my article was declined... Can someone explain me and/or help me to realize this article to be accepted?
Thank you.
Eudy (talk) 11:15, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- To editor Eudy: A core principle of Wikipedia is that information must come from reliable published sources (newspapers, magazines, books, and the like), not personal knowledge. In addition, the majority of these sources should be independent of the organization or other subject being discussed. Please read this page for more information. When I was preparing the page "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Farman_Nawaz" , I studied more than 15 pages of Pakistani columnists/journalists. It is almost designed on the same pattern but still this page is not able to satisfy the admins. I resolved the notability issues, authentic references issues, explained the previous deletion causes but again it is declined.

I'm just curious -- I've gotten two very standard "this needs more citations" responses on the Bhanu Kapil page that was rejected. I've enclosed a number of links to well-regarded arts journals, as well as showing the subject's participation in a major art event. Is it more a question of "this person just isn't important enough to merit a page"? (I saw, for instance, that Caroline Bergvall merits a page, and I'd think that the two of them are at about a similar level of importance/critical respect/etc.) If I'm getting a "please add citations to neutral sources" -- some more information on what that would be (or why the sources that I've posted are lacking) would be great. Is it just that more sources are needed, or are the ones that I have posted absolutely worthless? If it comes down to "if the subject hasn't received a New York Times profile, they're not relevant enough for Wikipedia" -- okay. But with this -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Creative_professionals -- as a guideline, I'm trying to hit all of those bases.
Now, again -- if the subject is considered too obscure, and nothing I'm going to do will change that? That's totally fine. I'll delete the article and not bother the community again.
NewShrewsbury (talk) 18:12, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
- @NewShrewsbury: I've Accepted it. You can improve it by adding references to pieces where she has been interviewed. Such as [1] and [2] that's the kind of stuff we want. Cut out the bits like "one of the most vital writers working today, and a crucial writer (and thinker) of postcolonial and displaced identity.". Wikipedia doesn't care what critics think. It just comes off as promotionalism. We just like facts and to be able to see that the subject has been discussed by people uninvolved with them. Bellerophon talk to me 23:00, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

My article has not been accepted after reviewed twice. I have a question about the sources I used. There are not more sources available. But all information about the artist and his work you can find in that sources I mentioned. The book "Ex_Cavations", the english homepage with a text, the article of the france newspaper which describes his connection to Hölderlins poetry at the exhibition at Goethe-Institut Nancy. You can find this article at the main site of the homepage. - Are you asking about Draft:Metaverse(verse)? If so, please understand that Wikipedia does not accept original research. Original research is anything that hasn't been published somewhere else before. If you want to talk about a new idea, you should try to get it published in an academic journal, or just write about it on a blog. My Wikipedia article was declined as it said it sounds like an advertisement and I would like to follow up to find out what specifically sounds like an advertisement and what I can change. Saigon Asset Management is an investment fund that has received coverage from numerous third party sources. Links were included to archived third party news source articles from the Saigon Asset Management website because some of these links are no longer active on the third party site.
Also, I followed the format of other investment funds listed on Wikipedia. This Wikipedia entry is no different to other investment fund entries such as these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_Asset_Management https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Capital https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mekong_Capital https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia_Frontier_Capital_Ltd. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_Capital
Why are these funds able to have a Wikipedia page?

Thank you for the opportunity to do this. I went to a workshop yesterday to learn how to use Wikipedia and I am very new to it all.
I have started to build this entry with notability in mind and on the advice of the workshop facilitators I've sought out books which reference the process. Two of them are by the process creator, but the others are not. It is a process, rather than a product you buy and I think I'm not getting that across. I am also wondering if I should be critiquing it a bit more? Or should I be telling the story of its creation? What I want from the page is that people who come across it can understand what it is and learn how to do it for themselves.
I appreciate why it's been knocked back, but I'm feeling a bit stuck. Can you help?
Thank you.

Hi there, thanks very much Dodger67 for reading my text although it got declined. I am not quite sure why this is the case but I must apologize in advance as this is my first wikipedia article and I struggled a bit with the code to put in the only one reference. I am afraid there are no more sources to add in order to make the article more reliable as I already put in websites from our organization partners and an academical text which is accessable via internet and to be found in the reference section. Thanks a lot - LRF LegalResourcesFoundation (talk) 13:29, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

I understand this page was rejected and I should ask why here??
Thanks! Jake Jakebob1963 (talk) 17:14, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- To editor Jakebob1963: Wikipedia is not a place for advertising. The most common way an article comes off as advertising is when it uses "evaluative phrases" without citing them to an outside source.
- Some of these in your page are "uniquely-crafted", "robust", and "humble". These have to be cited to an outside source, and attributed (for example: XYZ Magazine called its sandwiches "uniquely-crafted".). A good way to find evaluative phrases is to ask yourself Would a person who hates the restaurant and someone who loves it agree on this? If not, then it's evaluative.
- Also, Wikipedia pages shouldn't include comprehensive lists of products (in this case, menu items). You should talk about the ones that have received the most press coverage.
- Those are my comments about advertising. After you've addressed them, you may want to go through the editing tutorial to learn about formatting. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 18:30, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

- To editor Hamptodm: According to the Copyvio Detector, the plot is copied directly from Rotten Tomatoes. We can't accept material copied from outside sources (except for short quotations), because we don't have permission to use it. You can use Rotten Tomatoes or another site as a source of information, but you should summarize the plot in your own words. Hi - Why was my article declined? I want to know the detailed reason why, I know that I have cited multiple sources.
- Hello ProfTimMau. Your draft article includes three sources, but they are not really about Mr. Wigdor, but about the cases for which he is being hired. Please note that words spoken by the subject himself aren't considered independent references, and outside of his own words there are only a couple of sentences about him in the references. The references need to be about him, not about the people he represents. For a lawyer to be the subject of a Wikipedia page, there needs to be either extensive coverage about him in published sources, such as Louis Bloomfield and/or he needs to have received some kind of distinction above that of an average lawyer, such as Marlys Edwardh. Perhaps there are news reports about the actual trials, where Mr. Wignor's actions, rather than future intentions, were reported by journalists.—Anne Delong (talk) 21:52, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

It is requested that kindly check the comments of admins on my page and then apply the same rules on Ansar abbasi page. you will find that my page is more authentic than Ansar Abassi page.
