Biography
(to be translated)
Research
Jean-Louis Dessalles focuses on the quest for fundamental principles underlying the language faculty and its biological origins. He found that simplicity (or complexity drop) predicts narrative interest. He found a concise model of argumentative relevance. He found that Costly Signal Theory explains how honest communication can be possible among selfish agents (to explain the evolutionary emergence of language).
